Nagaraj Shetti, Senior Technical Research Analyst at HDFC Securities
The consolidation movement continued in the market on Wednesday and Nifty closed the day lower by 88 points. After opening with a positive note, the market unable to sustain and started to show weakness for early to mid part of the session. Minor upside recovery was seen towards the end and Nifty closed off the lows.
A reasonable negative candle was formed on the daily chart with minor lower shadow. Technically, this market action indicates downward correction in the market from near the hurdle of previous opening down gap around 25700 levels.
Nifty is now sliding down to the important cluster support of around 25300-25200 levels (support of ascending trend line on the daily chart and the support as per change in polarity on the weekly chart). There is a higher possibility of sharp bounce back emerging from near the mentioned lower support area in the next 1-2 sessions.
The near-term uptrend of Nifty remains intact. The current weakness could end near the important supports of around 25300-25200 levels in the next 1-2 sessions and the market could witness sharp bounce back from the lower levels.

Shrikant Chouhan, Head Equity Research, Kotak Securities:
Today, the benchmark indices witnessed profit booking at higher levels. The Nifty ends 88 points lower, while the Sensex was down by 288 points. Among sectors, Metal index outperformed, rallied 1.44 percent, whereas the Reality index lost the most, shedding 1.40 percent. Technically, after a muted open, the market has been consistently facing selling pressure at higher levels. On daily charts, it has formed a bearish candle, and on intraday charts, it is holding a lower top formation, which is largely negative.
We are of the view that, as long as the market is trading below 25,500/83500, the weak sentiment is likely to continue. On the lower side, the market could retest the level of 25,300/83000. Further sell-offs may also continue, which could drag the market down to 25,225/82800. On the flip side, if the market rises above 25,500/83500, it could bounce back up to 25,600–25,670/83800-84000.

Vaibhav Vidwani, Research Analyst at Bonanza
Today, the Indian stock market closed with notable declines amid broad-based selling pressure, particularly in banking, financials, and realty sectors. The BSE Sensex fell by approximately 287 points (0.34%) to close near 83,409, while the NSE Nifty slipped about 88 points (0.35%) to end around 25,453. The key reason for the negative closing was a sharp selloff in major financial stocks such as Shriram Finance, Bajaj Finserv, IndusInd Bank and Bajaj Finance, which weighed heavily on the indices.
The Nifty Bank index dropped 0.80%, dragging down the overall market sentiment. Realty stocks also fell sharply, with Nifty Realty declining 1.4%, marking its fifth consecutive day of losses. This sectoral weakness was compounded by cautious investor sentiment amid concerns over high valuations, persistent foreign institutional investor (FII) selling, and mixed global cues. On the positive side, metal stocks including Tata Steel and JSW Steel outperformed, gaining around +2%, supported by easing coking coal prices and cost reduction efforts by companies.

Dilip Parmar – Senior Research Analyst, HDFC Securities
The persistent fragility rippling through Asian currencies has exerted a profound downward pressure on the local rupee. This susceptibility has been compounded by the resurgent strength of the U.S. dollar against major currencies, a prevailing risk-averse sentiment among investors, foreign funds outflows, and a sustained dollar demand for hedgers.
The rupee is encountering formidable resistance in breaching the 85.40 mark in past three days amid dollar bargain buying.

Aditya Gaggar Director of Progressive Shares
After a moderate start, the Index struggled to sustain higher levels due to selling pressure in heavyweight stocks, which dragged the Index below the 25,400 mark. However, it managed to recover some of the losses towards the end and eventually settled at 25,453.40 with a loss of 88.40 points. Among sectors, Metal emerged as the best performer, advancing over 1.40%, followed by Auto. In contrast, the Realty segment extended its underperformance, correcting by over 1.40%. Banking indices also faced selling pressure as both BankNifty and PSU Banking declined by 0.80% & 0.83%, respectively.
The disparity was seen in the Broader markets as Midcaps outperformed while Smallcaps performed in line with the Frontline Index. Nifty50 tested its immediate support at 25,400, while 25,600 remains a key resistance level. A decisive break of either level is likely to lead to a directional move.

Indian Rupee declined on weak domestic equity markets and a rise in crude oil prices. a slight recovery in the US dollar too weighed on the Rupee. Economic data from the US was upbeat as ISM manufacturing PMI and JOLTS job openings topped forecast.
We expect Rupee to decline on trade tariff uncertainty as the 9th July deadline is approaching. Incoming statements by US President Donald Trump regarding tariffs is keeping the markets on the hook. 10-year US bond yields are also off the lows. However, improved global risk sentiments amid ceasefire between Israel and Iran may support the rupee at lower levels. Traders may take cues from ADP Non-Farm Employment data from the US. USDINR spot price is expected to trade in a range of Rs 85.45 to Rs 86.05.

Nitin Jain, Sr. Research Analyst at Bonanza
HDB Financial Services made its public market entry on Wednesday, July 2, at a 13% premium relative to its initial public offering (IPO) price of Rs 740 per share. The company’s Assets Under Management (AUM) is projected to increase at a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 20% over the next three years. Management anticipates a composition of 70% secured and 25-30% unsecured loans going forward.
HDB Financial boasts a highly diversified lending portfolio (both geographically and in product offerings), is extremely granular (with the top 20 accounts representing approximately 0.34% of AUM), and operates a large-scale lending franchise that serves over 19 million customers. Its approach emphasizes direct sourcing (about 82% of FY25 disbursements), targeting remote regions (70% of branches are in tier 4 towns and smaller), and catering to low-to-mid-income demographics with little or no credit history, all supported by a skilled management team (many of whom have been with HDBFS for more than ten years), reflecting a strong commitment and consistency. With a favorable interest rate environment supported by frontloaded repo rate cuts facilitating net interest margin expansion, reduced credit costs, and an enhancing growth outlook, HDBFS is well-prepared to boost both growth and profitability.

Prashanth Tapse, Senior VP (Research), Mehta Equities
Listing of HDB Financial Services was in line with our expectations, reflecting strong investor appetite. The IPO garnered over Rs 1.61 lakh crore in bids, underscoring massive institutional and retail interest. This makes HDB's offering the second most subscribed IPO among Rs 10,000+ crore issues, trailing only the record-breaking Tata Technologies listing. However, it did fall short of surpassing the all-time high Rs 3 lakh crore+ subscription seen in the Bajaj Housing Finance IPO.
We believe the robust response signals market confidence in HDB's business model, parentage (as an HDFC group company), and long-term growth potential in the NBFC space. If the listing meets expectations, it would reaffirm investor appetite for high-quality financial services plays, especially those backed by trusted legacy institutions.
Despite broader market uncertainties driven by geopolitical tensions, the strong institutional participation underscores confidence in HDB’s solid fundamentals and long-term growth potential. This IPO sets a strong precedent, reinforcing the company’s positioning as a key NBFC player under the HDFC group umbrella.
We believe company’s strategic positioning to benefit from liquidity push from RBI, especially with high focus on SME NBFC growth.
Given the healthy listing prevailing bullish sentiment in the market, we recommend holding the stock for the long term, as HDB Financial Services is strategically positioned to benefit from India’s structural credit growth, especially within the retail and SME financing segments.
For Non-allotted investors:
Those who did not receive any allotment may consider accumulating on any post-listing corrections, particularly during short-term volatility triggered by broader market movements. As we see HDB Financial Services offers a value-driven opportunity with both defensive and growth characteristics, best suitable for investors with a 3–5 year investment horizon.

Deveya Gaglani, Senior Research Analyst - Commodities, Axis Securities
MCX Gold prices surged by over 1000 points in the last session, supported by a multi-year low in the dollar index. The ongoing uncertainty surrounding trade negotiations with major global economies also enhanced gold's appeal as a safe-haven asset.
The precious metal is currently experiencing its second consecutive day of gains, driven by increasing expectations that the Federal Reserve may resume loosening its monetary policy later this year.
Lower interest rates generally benefit non-interest-bearing assets like gold. The market is currently pricing in at least two interest rate cuts in 2025. Looking ahead, the upcoming Non-Farm Payrolls data is anticipated to significantly influence gold's price trajectory this month.
