Today, the benchmark indices witnessed lackluster activity. The Nifty ends 30 points lower, while the Sensex was down by 13 points. Among sectors, the Digital index was the top gainer, rallying 1.10 percent, whereas the Media index lost the most, shedding 2 percent. Technically, after a gap-up open, the entire day saw the market registering selling pressure throughout. On daily charts, the market is still holding a lower top formation and has also formed a bearish candle, which indicates temporary weakness.
We believe that the current market texture is non-directional; hence, level-based trading would be the ideal strategy for day traders. For traders, the 25,000/82200 mark or the 50-day SMA (Simple Moving Average) would be the key support zone. As long as the market trades above this level, a pullback formation is likely to continue. On the higher side, 25,200/82800 and the 20-day SMA or 25,325/83100 would be the key resistance areas for the bulls. On the flip side, a breach of 25,000/82200 could push the market towards 24,900/81900. Further downside may also continue, which could drag the index down to 24,775/81500.

Nagaraj Shetti, Senior Technical Research Analyst at HDFC Securities
After showing minor bounce back from the lows of 24900 levels on Monday, Nifty failed to continue with upside momentum on Tuesday and closed the day lower. After opening with a positive note, the market slipped into weakness in the early part of the session. It later shifted into a choppy movement with weak bias for better part of the session.
A reasonable negative candle was formed on the daily chart at the highs which indicates lack of strength in the market to sustain the highs. Nifty reversing down after one day of bounce back is not a good sign. Smaller degree bearish pattern like lower highs and lows continued on the daily chart and the Nifty seems to have reversed down after a small lower high at 25182 on Tuesday.
The underlying trend of Nifty continues to be weak amidst choppy movement. Having rejected from the hurdle of 25200, the chances of Nifty sliding below 24900 is likely in the coming session. On such event, the downside target could open around 24500 for the coming weeks. Immediate resistance is placed at 25200.

Markets attention is on quarterly earnings, which slowed lately after some traction from banking stocks. Positivity noticed on Friday and Monday tapered ahead the critical August 1st deadline of U.S. trade agreement.
Upside in Q1 earnings will be the critical point to sustain the current premium valuations. Continued profit booking by the FIIs exerts downward pressure, while steady inflows from DIIs could support for a range-bound movement with a positive bias towards Q1 results and trade deal.

Today, the Indian stock market closed slightly negative, with the Nifty 50 index ending at 25,060, down by 29 points or approximately 0.12% from the previous close of 25,090.7. The day saw the Nifty oscillate between a low of 25,035.55 and a high of 25,182.0, reflecting subdued volatility and cautious investor sentiment. The negative closing was primarily driven by selling pressure in key sectors such as IT, automobile, PSU banks, pharma, and realty, which all ended the day in the red with losses ranging between 0.5% to 1%.
Notable laggards included Shriram Finance, UltraTech Cement, Eicher Motors, Adani Ports, and Tata Motors. Despite this, some blue-chip stocks like Eternal, HDFC Life, Titan, Hindalco, and ICICI Bank managed modest gains. Weakness in the broader market was reinforced by a decline in the BSE Midcap index and a flat performance in Smallcap stocks, indicating selective sectoral selling pressure.
Looking ahead, market expectations are for continued volatility influenced by global cues, corporate earnings updates, and domestic institutional flows. Investors should prepare for a consolidative phase near the 25,000 Nifty mark, with selective stock picking in sectors demonstrating robust fundamentals and relative strength likely to outperform as the market seeks fresh triggers for a sustained rally.

The Nifty has remained mostly range-bound, facing resistance at the 21-EMA during the initial trades. On the hourly chart, the index failed to move above the 50-EMA. Overall, consolidation may continue in the coming days, as the index is not showing any signs of a breakout from the current trading zone. On the lower end, 24,900 continues to act as strong support, while resistance is placed at 25,260 — a breakout above which could lead to increased strength in the market

Markets remained range-bound and ended almost flat, indicating a pause amid mixed signals. After an initial uptick, the Nifty gradually drifted lower in the first half, followed by a sideways move until the close. Most key sectors ended in the red, with pharma, realty, and auto emerging as the top losers. The broader indices also mirrored the trend, shedding nearly half a percent each.
The market continues to lack clear direction amid mixed earnings announcements and muted global cues. We maintain a cautious stance until the Nifty decisively reclaims the 25,250 mark, while immediate support is seen at 24,900. Meanwhile, traders should adopt a hedged approach and focus on fundamentally strong counters, with an emphasis on earnings performance

Gold traded in a narrow and volatile range between Rs 99,100-99,450 on MCX and USD 3395–3383 on Comex, reflecting a lack of fresh triggers from trade deals or major global developments. Market participants await Fed Chair Powell’s speech later in the evening for policy cues. Looking ahead, US Manufacturing and Services PMI data will be closely tracked for direction. In the near term, gold is expected to remain range-bound with MCX support at Rs 98,500 and resistance near Rs 1,00,500.
Rupee traded lower by 0.08% at 86.36 as domestic capital markets remained weak and the dollar index held flat to slightly positive near 97.86. Comex gold prices extended their winning streak for two sessions in a row. In the domestic market, prices were up by more than 1,000 points as they touched a one-month high due to economic uncertainty and a weaker dollar index. This week, the economic data release and the Fed chairman's speech may keep prices volatile.
Near-term support is placed around the Rs 97,000 level, and we expect prices to trade with a positive bias in a range between Rs 97,000 and Rs 100,000. Additionally, a breakdown below the mentioned level will negate the bullish view.
