Ajit Mishra – SVP, Research, Religare Broking

Markets started the week on an upbeat note, gaining nearly a percent and providing a breather after the recent decline. The tone was positive from the outset and further strengthened in the latter half, supported by a noticeable recovery in heavyweights across sectors. As a result, the Nifty almost erased Friday’s losses and closed near the day’s high at the 24,585 level. All key sectors contributed to the move, with realty, auto, and pharma emerging as the top gainers. In line with the broader trend, the midcap and smallcap indices also saw relief, advancing in the range of 0.34% to 0.79%.

Over the past six weeks, there have been multiple instances where the Nifty began the week on a strong note, only for the momentum to fade in the final sessions. This time, however, it appears that the markets have largely digested the recent tariff-related concerns and are now focusing more on earnings cues, with the results season nearing its end. Additionally, oversold positions in heavyweights are providing support. Still, only a decisive close above the 24,600 mark could extend this recovery towards the 24,800–25,000 zone. Traders should maintain a hedged approach and focus on stocks consistently displaying relative strength for long positions.

Vaibhav Vidwani, Research Analyst at Bonanza

Today, Indian equity markets recorded a strong rebound. The Sensex surged 746 points to close at 80,604 while the Nifty climbed 221 points to settle at 24,585, decisively above the 24,500 mark. Market was mainly driven by robust gains in public sector banking, auto, and realty stocks. State Bank of India (SBI) sparked bullish sentiment following strong Q1 earnings, leading to a rally across PSU banks. Auto majors like Tata Motors and sector peers also posted notable advances, adding to the rally.

Mutual fund flows remain strong, with equity inflows and SIP contributions hitting record highs in July—signaling sustained retail investor confidence. The primary reasons for today’s positive closing were strong domestic corporate results (especially SBI), renewed domestic mutual fund inflows, and supportive global cues.

Looking ahead, market watchers will track global developments (including US inflation data and geopolitical events), ongoing corporate earnings, and foreign fund flows.

Sudeep Shah, Head - Technical Research and Derivatives at SBI Securities

The benchmark index Nifty kicked off the week on a strong note, closing near the 24600 mark with a gain of 0.91%. Among the Nifty constituents, Adani Enterprises and Tata Motors emerged as the top gainers, showcasing strong buying interest. On the flip side, Hero MotoCorp and Bharat Electronics Ltd were among the top losers.

Sectoral performance was broadly positive, with Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Realty leading the gains. Interestingly, Nifty Consumer Durables was the only index to end in the red. The broader market also participated in the rally, with both Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices closing in the green. Market breadth remained robust, as the advance/decline ratio tilted significantly in favour of the bulls. Out of the Nifty 500 stocks, 331 ended with gains, underscoring widespread optimism across sectors and market capitalizations.

Nifty View

In the first trading session of the week, the benchmark index Nifty posted a strong performance, ending the day with a gain of 0.91% and comfortably closing near the 24600 mark. However, for this pullback rally to sustain and extend further, a decisive follow-up move is essential. Recently, the market has struggled to maintain momentum after initial gains, with a noticeable absence of consistent follow-through buying.

Talking about crucial levels, 24700-24740 will act as an important hurdle for the index. Any sustainable move above the level of 24740 will lead to extension of pullback rally upto the 24900 level. While on the downside, the zone of 24440-24400 will act as important support for the index.

Bank Nifty View

The banking benchmark Bank Nifty has taken support near the 100-day EMA level and thereafter witnessed a sharp pullback rally. It has ended the session above the 55500 level with a gain of 0.92%. Going ahead, the zone of 55800-55900 will act as an immediate hurdle for the index. While, on the downside the zone of 55100-55000 will act as crucial support.

Dilip Parmar – Senior Research Analyst, HDFC Securities

The Indian Rupee strengthened for the fourth consecutive day, driven by risk-on sentiment and a stable US Dollar. Lower crude oil prices, fuelled by expectations of easing geopolitical tensions, also provided support.

However, the currency's gains were capped by dollar demand from importers and foreign fund outflows. In the near term, the spot USD/INR pair faces resistance at 87.85 and has a support level at 87.50.

August 11, 2025· 15:51 IST

Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities

The Nifty picked up right where it left off on Friday, but with an entirely different mood. Rising from the ashes, the index staged a spirited comeback, adding nearly 200 points through the day. The earlier breakdown now seems to have given way to a short-term pullback, as the market brushed aside recent weakness.

We’re not completely out of the woods yet, but Monday’s bounce from the recent low carries enough steam to power further gains. Immediate support lies at 24,337, with the next upside targets seen around 24,850 and 25,000.

August 11, 2025· 15:47 IST

Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments

The market saw a relief rally post a 3-month low; a positive global cue and a gradual return of FIIs supported the sentiment. The PSU banks took the limelight amidst Q1 results from the banking major, while a broad-based momentum was visible across all sectors.

Investors are positively assessing the upcoming US-Russia Summit this week, which may possibly give way to a de-escalation in geopolitical tensions. While a near-term caution may still prevail, the more definite assessment of the US trade and growth impact is yet to be assessed fully.

Kaynat Chainwala, AVP Commodity Research, Kotak Securities:

COMEX gold prices surged to a record high of $3,534/oz on Friday following reports that the US imposed tariffs on imports of one-kilo gold bars, the most commonly traded form on COMEX. However, gold futures closed below $3,500/oz as the White House later in the session announced plans to issue an executive order clarifying its position on precious metals and tariffs. Still, gold closed last week with a 2% gain, supported by signs of economic weakness in the US, dovish remarks from several Federal Reserve officials, and growing expectations of interest rate cuts.

Today, COMEX gold slipped more than 1% to $3,431/oz, largely erasing last week’s gains as markets await clarification after the Trump administration on Friday called reports of tariffs on gold and other specialty products “misinformation.”

WTI crude slipped below $63/bbl on Friday, closing the week with 5% decline, amid expectations that the potential meeting between Presidents Trump and Putin to discuss a Ukraine ceasefire could lead to eased sanctions on Russian oil flows. Rising OPEC+ output and softening demand prospects as US tariffs took effect are stoking concerns about global oversupply.

Oil prices may remain pressured ahead of the August 15 Trump-Putin meeting, as a possible easing of Russian sanctions could deepen the supply glut forecast for later this year. Meanwhile, oil market participants are keenly awaiting the OPEC monthly market report, the EIA Short-Term Energy Outlook, and the IEA monthly report due later this week for clues on market balance.

Nitin Jain, Sr. Research Analyst at Bonanza

NSDL has seen an extraordinary rally since its listing on August 6, 2025. The stock is up ~65% from its IPO price of Rs 800, trading around Rs 1,320. The reason for the rally is outstanding IPO response, post- listing momentum, the company’s strong business model, largest depository in India and positive street sentiment amongst others. After 65–70% rally in a few days it is recommended booking some profits, especially for short-term and listing-gain-focused investors.

The near-term upside may be capped after such a sharp move, and markets tend to see consolidation post a robust debut. If you are a long-term investor willing to ride out near-term volatility, NSDL remains a high-quality stock supported by rising demat penetration
