Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday welcomed US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza war.

Taking to X, the Prime Minister wrote, “We welcome President Donald J Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict. It provides a viable pathway to long term and sustainable peace, security and development for the Palestinian and Israeli people, as also for the larger West Asian region.”

“We hope that all concerned will come together behind President Trump’s initiative and support this effort to end conflict and secure peace,” he added.

The development came after the US President released a 20-point peace plan aimed at ending the war in Gaza. The plan was announced in Washington post Trump's meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump’s ‘Comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict’, announced Monday, entails that Gaza will be a deradicalised terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbours and will be redeveloped.

“If both sides agree to this proposal, the war will immediately end. Israeli forces will withdraw to the agreed upon line to prepare for a hostage release. During this time, all military operations, including aerial and artillery bombardment, will be suspended, and battle lines will remain frozen until conditions are met for the complete staged withdrawal,” according to the plan that also calls for all hostages, whether alive and deceased, to be returned within 72 hours of Israel publicly accepting this agreement.

Which nations are supporting the Gaza peace plan?

Eight Arab and Muslim nations on Tuesday issued a joint statement welcoming Trump’s proposals to end the Gaza conflict and prevent the displacement of Palestinians.

The foreign ministers of Qatar, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt expressed confidence in US President Trump’s “leadership and sincere efforts” to find a path to peace in the region.

Trump has also said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir back his plan to end the Gaza conflict “100 per cent”, as he listed them among the world leaders “very much involved” in the negotiations on the issue.
