After showing a sustainable bounce back on Monday, Nifty slipped into weakness amidst volatility on Tuesday, on the day of F&O expiry and closed the day just lower by 29 points amidst sharp recovery. Nifty opened on a weak note and made an attempt to move up in the early part of the session. Weakness got triggered from the days high of 26000 levels amidst high volatility and finally the market was able to show recovery towards the end and closed off the lows.
A small candle was formed on the daily chart with upper shadow, which is indicates a formation of doji/high wave type candle pattern, which reflects ongoing high volatility and confusion state of mind among investors in the market. The larger degree bullish pattern like higher tops and bottoms is intact and present weakness could be a buy on dips opportunity.
The near-term trend of Nifty remains positive, but short-term trend of the market is weak with volatility. Immediate supports to be watched around 25700. A sustainable move above the hurdle of 26100 is likely to open next upside towards 26400-26500 levels in the near term.

Ajit Mishra – SVP, Research, Religare Broking
Markets traded choppy on the monthly expiry day and ended flat, largely continuing the ongoing consolidation phase. After an initial uptick, the Nifty index witnessed sharp swings throughout the session before finally settling at 25,936.20. Sectorally, most indices closed in the red, with realty, IT, and FMCG among the top losers. However, strength in metal and banking majors helped limit the downside. The broader indices also ended largely unchanged, reflecting selective participation rather than a broad-based rally.
Market sentiment remained cautious ahead of key global central bank meetings and major U.S. tech earnings announcements. Additionally, muted activity by foreign institutional investors in the cash segment weighed on sentiment, though steady domestic inflows and a largely positive earnings season so far helped maintain an overall constructive tone.
We maintain our bullish outlook despite the consolidation and recommend focusing on stock selection based on relative strength. Sectors such as metals, banking, and autos continue to display consistent performance and should remain preferred, while traders stay selective in other spaces.

Indian equity market closed almost flat today, as both Sensex and Nifty retreated after early gains, driven by profit booking and mixed global cues. The Sensex ended down 150 points at 84,628, while the Nifty slipped 30 points to close at 25,936, erasing morning advances. Markets opened in the red following muted cues from Asian peers but attempted a recovery before profit booking set in ahead of the FOMC rate decision and monthly derivative expiry. Key news was the continued FII selling and sector rotation, with metals, PSU banks, and select realty stocks outperforming, while financials and IT lagged.
FII selling continued, although DIIs offset some pressure with robust buying worth over Rs. 2,400 crore. Broader markets were directionless, midcaps and smallcaps saw minimal movement, reflecting widespread caution. News that impacted sentiment included concerns around US rate cut timing, derivative expiry, global growth uncertainties, and lingering geopolitical risks.
Looking ahead, we expect volatility to rise due to the FOMC policy. Domestic focus will remain on banking, metals, and realty, as robust DII flows and positive government initiatives could support indices, while FII flows and global event risk are likely to keep upside capped.

Siddhartha Khemka - Head of Research, Wealth Management, Motilal Oswal Financial Services
Indian equities witnessed high volatility with benchmark indices swinging between gains and losses on Nifty’s monthly expiry. Nifty50 ended with a marginal loss of 30 points at 25,936 (-0.1%). Most sectoral indices ended lower, led by declines in realty, IT, financial services and FMCG, reflecting profit booking amid cautious sentiment ahead of US Fed’s Interest rate decision tomorrow. However, selective buying in Metals (+0.9%) and PSU banks (+0.8%) lent some support, helping limit overall downside in an otherwise subdued market session.
PSU Banks were in focus as government is planning to significantly increase FDI limit in state-run banks to 49% from the current 20%. We see strength in banking stocks, as they benefit from a favourable credit cycle and strategic capital inflows.
Shares of several EMS companies surged after the government announced the first set of approvals under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), clearing seven projects involving investments of Rs 5,532 crore with a projected output of Rs 44,406 crore.
On the global macro front, investors would closely track the outcome of the US FOMC meet on Wednesday, where the Federal Reserve is widely expected to reduce interest rates by 25 basis points. Overall, we expect the markets to remain firm, tracking positive global cues, macro-economic data and domestic Q2 earnings. Key result announcements on Wednesday include L&T, Coal India, VBL, HPCL, CG Power, Radico amongst others.

Shrikant Chouhan, Head Equity Research, Kotak Securities
Today, the benchmark indices experienced a volatile trading session. After a roller-coaster activity, the Nifty ended 30 points lower, while the Sensex was down by 151 points. Among sectors, Metal and PSU Bank indices outperformed, rallying over 1 percent, whereas the Realty index lost the most, shedding over 1 percent.
Technically, after an early morning intraday rally, the market faced resistance near 26,000/84800 and corrected sharply. From the day's highest point, the market shed over 200/700 points. However, in the last hour of trading, it trimmed some losses.
We believe that the intraday market texture is volatile and non-directional; hence, level-based trading would be an ideal strategy for day traders. On the higher side, 26,000/84800 and 26,050/85000 would act as key resistance zones, while 25,800/84200 could be an important support area for the bulls.
A successful breakout above 26,050/85000 could push the market towards 26,150–26,200/85300-85500, while below 25,800/84200, the market is likely to retest the levels of 25,700–25,600/84000-83700.

Sudeep Shah, Head - Technical Research and Derivatives at SBI Securities
On the monthly expiry day, the Nifty Index began on a firm note, briefly moving above the psychological mark of 26,000, but failed to sustain momentum and drifted lower, making an Intraday low of 25,810 before a sharp surge towards the last hour of the day led to Nifty closing the day at 25,936 with a modest loss of 0.11%
On the sectoral front, Nifty Metal was the top sectoral gainer, ending with a gain of 1.23%, followed by Nifty PSU Banks, which ended with a gain of 1.21%. On the other hand, Nifty Realty & Nifty CPSE were the top two sectoral losers. On the stock front, JSW Steel and Tata Steel ended up as the top gainers, while Bajaj Finserv and Trent emerged as the top two losers.
The broader market indices relatively outperformed the frontline indices. Midcap Index ended 0.02% lower while the Smallcap Index closed the day with a modest gain of 0.02%. The advance-decline ratio was tilted in the favour of the bears as a total of 274 stocks out of the Nifty 500 closed in the red, indicating that the selling pressure was broad based and not just limited to heavyweight names.
Nifty View
On the daily chart, the Nifty Index has formed a small-bodied candle with a minor upper shadow and a long lower shadow, indicating indecision amongst the market participants throughout the day.
For the past two sessions, Nifty has been struggling to decisively move past the 26,000–26,050 zone, which now acts as a near-term hurdle. Post the symmetrical triangle breakout on October 16 and a strong follow-through rally on October 17, the index has entered a consolidation phase, moving within a 25,700–26,100 range.
From an indicator standpoint, the prices continue to trade above key moving averages, keeping the broader trend positive. The RSI has cooled off from 72.69 on 23rd October to 70.03 on 28th October, indicating that momentum has eased slightly and the index is digesting recent gains rather than reversing trend. Meanwhile, the ADX remains in a rising mode, reflecting that the underlying bullish strength is still intact despite the current consolidation.
Overall, Nifty appears to be taking a breather after a strong breakout. Looking at key levels, the zone of 26,050-26,100 will act as an immediate resistance for the Index. If the index manages to give a follow through move above the level of 26,100, then the rally can continue further till 26,300 level. While, on the downside, the zone of 25,750-25,700 will act as a crucial support for the Index.

Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments
The domestic market remained volatile in negative terrain and ended flat, weighed down by profit booking on monthly expiry and weak global cues. Despite this, the Metals sector gained on renewed optimism following China’s announcement to curb steel overcapacity and potential progress over US- China Trade relations, while PSU banks outperformed amid reports of a potential increase in FII holding limits.
Notably, buying interest emerged at lower levels, reflecting underlying investor confidence. Market sentiment is expected to be supported by easing global trade tensions and expectations of an upgrade in domestic corporate earnings, which continue to reinforce resilience.

The market remained highly volatile on the NSE monthly F&O expiry day. However, the overall chart setup on the daily timeframe remains intact, with the Nifty trading well above the 21EMA, keeping the bullish bias intact.
The RSI is in a bullish crossover and remains in the high momentum zone. In the short term, the index may witness a decent rally as momentum picks up above 26,000. On the higher end, resistance is seen at 26,300, while support is placed at 25,850.

Sensex | Subscribe Lenskart IPO: SBI Securities
Lenskart is India’s largest and amongst the top 2 players in Asia in the organized retailers of prescription eyeglasses in terms of B2C eyeglasses sales volumes. The company has demonstrated significant growth over the years in both financial and operational metrics. It is broadening its presence in the rapidly expanding Indian eyewear market.
At the upper band of Rs 402, the IPO is valued at FY25 EV/Sales and EV/EBITDA multiples of 10.1x and 68.7x, respectively, based on post-issue capital.
Valuation of Lenskart seems be stretched and hence listing gain is likely to be muted. However, looking at the robust business model, the company is well placed to encash on the fast-growing domestic organized underpenetrated eyeglasses market. Moreover, as business scales up, there is scope of improvement in profitability over medium to long term.
Listed international peers have robust margin profile and going forward, street will keenly track the path to profitability for Lenskart too. As per the historical track record, the company has consistently improved its reported EBITDA margin# (7.0% in FY23 to 14.7% in FY25) and incremental improvement will be keenly tracked by the investors. We recommend investors to subscribe to the IPO for long term at the cut-off price.
