Osho Krishan, Chief Manager -Technical and Derivative research at Angel One

The Indian equity markets demonstrated notable resilience amid global market weakness. Following an initial setback, market participants aggressively entered the fray, which led to a significant recovery. Throughout the trading session, the benchmark index demonstrated a pronounced upward trajectory, successfully reclaiming all the ground lost in the prior session, characterized by a strong bullish candle formation. Amid this firm recovery, the Nifty50 index closed the day around 26050, marking a gain of 0.55 percent.

The broader participation in markets, primarily fueled by a significant surge in IT counters, has positively altered market sentiment and sustained upward momentum, favoring bullish trends. As a result of recent developments, the Nifty50 index has re-entered the critical make-or-break zone.

Given the current momentum, a breakout appears imminent; a decisive movement beyond the 26100 level is likely to pave the way for the next phase of the rally, targeting the immediate lifetime high of 26277, followed by the possibility of entering uncharted territory. Conversely, the subzone of 25950-25900 is expected to provide a cushion against potential near-term downturns, while 25800 remains a vital support level from a positional perspective.

As we look ahead, our market has diverged from US market trends while maintaining a bullish outlook. We intend to adopt a "buy on dips" strategy, anticipating dips to augur well for bulls and a potential breakout in the near future. It is advisable to remain vigilant for any developments that could serve as catalysts for our market and to focus on thematic movers at this time.

Nandish Shah - Deputy Vice President, HDFC Securities

After one session of pause, Nifty resumed its uptrend by rising 142 points to close at 26052. After initial dip, Nifty kept on building strength throughout the session with higher tops and higher bottoms on intraday basis. Market activity, however, dropped sharply, with NSE’s cash market turnover falling 16 percent compared to the yesterday.

Among Nifty constituents, Max Healthcare along with IT heavyweights HCL Tech and Infosys posted the highest gains, while Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, Coal India, and Maruti faced selling pressure, leading the list of laggards.

Except for the Nifty Oil & Gas, Realty, and Media indices, all major sectors closed in positive territory. IT, PSU Banks, and Bank Nifty emerged as the session's major gainers.

The broader market exhibited a mixed performance as the Nifty Midcap 100 rose by 0.21%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 ended with a 0.43% loss. Market breadth remained weak for the fifth consecutive day, with decliners outnumbering advancers, reflected by an advance-decline ratio on the BSE of 0.79.

The Indian rupee continued its rally for the fourth consecutive day, appreciating by 2 paise against the dollar to close at 88.59. This strengthening is chiefly attributed to optimism surrounding the US-India trade deal, easing crude oil prices, and stronger equity markets.

By surpassing yesterday’s high of 26029, Nifty has negated the bearish formation of “engulfing” candle. With the index now approaching the critical resistance at 26,100, a decisive breakout above this level could pave the way for fresh all-time highs, surpassing 26,277. On the downside, today’s low of 25,856 now serves as immediate support, with the next key level to watch at 24,740.

Ajit Mishra – SVP, Research, Religare Broking

Markets edged higher on Wednesday, with the Nifty 50 rising 0.55% to close at 26,052.65, reversing the previous session’s weakness. The index opened on a positive note and maintained its upward bias through the day, allowing the benchmark to finish near the day’s high. Sectoral performance was mixed: IT and banking stocks outperformed, while realty, energy, and metal counters lagged. In the broader market, the tone remained subdued, with the midcap index ending flat and the smallcap index slipping nearly half a percent.

The rebound was supported primarily by unexpected strength in IT majors after Infosys announced its Rs 18,000-crore share buyback effective November 20, lifting sentiment across the sector. Continued resilience in the banking space also contributed meaningfully to the day’s gains.

While the banking pack continues to lead, the IT sector—after nearly a year of consolidation—is now showing early signs of a structural reversal. We maintain a positive outlook amid the ongoing consolidation phase and expect the Nifty to attempt fresh highs on a decisive breakout above 26,100. Participants should continue to adopt a selective approach, focusing on sectors displaying strength, with a preference for large-cap and stronger mid-cap names.

November 19, 2025· 16:06 IST

Abhinav Tiwari, Research Analyst at Bonanza

Today, the Indian equity benchmarks closed on a positive note with the Sensex surging above 85,100 and the Nifty crossing the 26,000 mark, driven by strong rallies in PSU and IT stocks. The market sentiment was uplifted by expectations of sustained government support for PSUs and optimistic global demand outlook for the IT sector.

South Indian Bank emerged as a standout performer after announcing a hike in its MCLR to 9.65% for one-year tenors, signaling margin expansion and attracting investor interest. Conversely, Sammaan Capital declined due to escalating regulatory investigations and court proceedings, highlighting investor caution toward companies facing legal challenges.

Renewed investor confidence in the Adani Group, following lender support for their takeover of Jaiprakash Associates, also boosted market sentiment. Additionally, positive domestic cues such as stable macroeconomics and optimism over a potential India-US trade deal helped sustain buying interest.

Key takeaways from today’s market include the leadership role of IT and banking sectors in the broader market rally, underscoring their resilience amid mixed global cues. Investors appeared encouraged by corporate actions such as Infosys’ upcoming Rs. 18,000 crore share buyback and Hindustan Unilever’s record date announcement for its ice cream business demerger.

Looking ahead, market expectations center around continued monitoring of corporate earnings, global trade developments, and domestic economic indicators. The sustained momentum in IT and banking, coupled with evolving structural reforms, is expected to keep investors optimistic. Overall, the market appears poised for a cautiously optimistic trajectory with sectors like IT, financials, and consumer goods likely to remain key drivers of growth.

Vikram Kasat, Head Advisory, PL Capital

Indian equity benchmarks closed firmly higher on Wednesday, supported by a sharp rebound in technology counters and selective strength in financials despite a muted global backdrop. The Sensex advanced 513 points, finishing above 85,150, while the Nifty 50 reclaimed the 26,050 mark as buying picked up mid-session after a choppy start.

The IT index jumped nearly 3%, extending its recent momentum as part of the ongoing anti-AI rotation trade. Major tech names including HCL Technologies, Infosys, Wipro and TCS surged 3-4%, contributing significantly to the day’s gains. Among other sectors, the PSU Bank index added 1.2%, while the broader Bank index edged up 0.5%. However, weakness persisted in pockets such as media (-0.3%) and realty (-0.4%), reflecting cautious sentiment in rate-sensitive segments.

In the broader market, the BSE Midcap index rose 0.3%, whereas the Smallcap index slipped 0.3%, signalling selective participation. On the Nifty, top laggards included TMPV, Coal India, Maruti Suzuki, Hindalco Industries and Bajaj Finance.

Meanwhile, the Indian rupee ended almost unchanged at 88.58 per dollar, reflecting subdued foreign fund activity. With earnings season behind them, investors now look ahead to fresh domestic and global cues to gauge near-term market direction.

Dilip Parmar, Research Analyst, HDFC Securities

The rupee’s three-day run of appreciation came to an abrupt halt. The early optimism surrounding the US-India trade deal and risk-sentiments were undercut by keen buying from importers and a broad pickup in the US dollar’s strength.

We anticipate spot USDINR will hover within the 88.40 to 88.80 range in the coming days.

November 19, 2025· 15:54 IST

Sudeep Shah, Head - Technical and Derivatives Research at SBI Securities

Nifty shrugged off its initial weakness and rose steadily throughout the day, closing at 26,053, up 0.55%. Nifty took support from the previous day’s low zone of 25855–25875 and moved up steadily throughout the session.

On the sectoral front, Nifty IT was the top sectoral gainer, ending with a gain of 2.97%, followed by Nifty PSU Banks, which ended with a gain of 1.16%. On the other hand, Nifty PSE & Nifty Realty were the top two sectoral losers. On the stock front, Maxhealth and HCL Tech ended up as the top gainers, while TMPV and Coal India emerged as the top two losers.

The Midcap 100 Index mirrored the performance seen in the frontline indices today as the Index recovered quickly in the morning trade before moving higher steadily throughout the day to close at 60,979 with a gain of 0.21% The Nifty Smallcap 100 Index, on the other hand, underperformed as the movement largely remained sideways post the opening trade and ended 0.43% lower. The ratio chart of Nifty/Smallcap 100 has given a fresh horizontal trendline breakout, indicating potential underperformance in Small Cap stocks in the days ahead. The advance-decline ratio was tilted slightly in the favour of the bears as a total of 287 stocks out of the Nifty 500 closed in the red.

Nifty View

On the daily chart, Nifty has formed a bullish candle with a minor lower wick, indicating strong buying interest at lower levels. The same phenomenon has been visible for the last three trading sessions, where every dip is being bought into.

Nifty is making a strong attempt to decisively move past the 26,050 level, since last three trading sessions but continues to face stiff resistance in that zone. The Index closed marginally above this level today. Having said that, Nifty trades comfortably above its key short-term moving averages — the 20 & 50 EMA. The RSI, after hitting the 60 mark, has slightly moved up to 64, indicating improving momentum and strengthening bullish sentiment. The shrinking red histogram bars on the MACD suggest that bearish momentum is fading and the index may be gearing up for further upside in the coming sessions.

Looking at key levels, the 26,100–26,150 zone is expected to act as a crucial resistance. A sustained move above 26,150 could drive the index towards 26,350. On the downside, the zone of 25,850-25,800 zone is expected to act as a strong support for the Index.

Bank Nifty View

Bank Nifty too shrugged off its initial weakness, where it made an intraday low of 58,689, and staged a sharp intraday recovery, even making a fresh high before closing at 59,216, up 0.54%.

The 59,000–59,100 zone had acted as stiff resistance for Bank Nifty over the last two trading sessions. Bank Nifty gave a breakout above this zone, indicating that buyers were strong enough to absorb all the supply present in this band and push prices decisively higher. This reflects renewed bullish conviction and a clear willingness from market participants to chase strength at higher levels.

The ratio line on the Bank Nifty/Nifty chart has also been moving upward in a higher-high, higher-low structure, with the 20-day EMA acting as a dynamic support zone throughout this stretch — a sign of relative strength strongly aligned in favour of Bank Nifty.

Interestingly, the ratio line has now reached levels last seen at the fag end of July 2025 — the same period since when Bank Nifty had started to underperform Nifty. The return to these levels underscores the strong recovery in Bank Nifty, supported by both PSU and private banks. PSU banks have been displaying solid momentum with steady buying interest, while private banks have also stepped up with improving price structure and participation, collectively aiding Bank Nifty’s outperformance after months of lag.

Looking at key levels, the 59,400–59,500 zone is expected to act as a crucial resistance. A sustained move above 59,500 could drive the index towards 60,000. On the downside, the zone of 58,600-58,700 zone is expected to act as a strong support zone for Bank Nifty.

Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments

National indices staged a strong rebound on renewed optimism over an India–US trade deal, following encouraging comments from the Union Commerce Minister.

Large caps led the gains, outperforming the broader market.

The IT sector rallied on revived hopes of a Fed rate cut, supported by soft U.S. labour data and currency tailwinds, while PSU banks gained on merger-related news and improving fundamentals.

Attention now turns to tomorrow’s FOMC minutes for further policy signals.

November 19, 2025· 15:42 IST

Vatsal Bhuva, Technical Analyst at LKP Securities

Bank Nifty witnessed strong buying in Wednesday’s session near its 20-EMA on the hourly chart, highlighting the firm grip of bulls and underlying strength. Although the RSI is slightly overbought above 70, the index shows no signs of profit booking or immediate correction.

On the derivatives front, significant put writing at 59000 and 58500 strikes reflects strong bullish sentiment, establishing 58500—aligned with the 10-day EMA—as positional support and 59000 as immediate support. As long as the index sustains above 58000, a buy-on-dip strategy should be maintained, while 59500 and 60000 remain potential resistance levels.

Sensex Today | Prabhudas Lilladher keeps 'buy' rating on KEC International, target Rs 932

KEC International (KECI) has been debarred from participating in all PGCIL tenders for the next nine months due to alleged transgressions of contractual provisions.

The debarment does not affect ongoing PGCIL projects, which account for ~Rs 50 billion within KECI’s total order book of Rs393.3bn.

KECI’s domestic T&D opportunity pipeline was estimated at ~Rs 200–250 billion, of which ~Rs 45–50 billion pertained to PGCIL.

Broking house estimate that KECI may forgo order inflows of ~Rs 15 billion during the nine-month debarment window across FY26–FY27, translating into a likely EPS impact of –2.0%/–2.0% on FY27/28E estimates.

Management is evaluating legal options and may seek reconsideration from PGCIL, with further clarity awaited. The debarment could also benefit Kalpataru Projects International Ltd. (KPIL), as reduced competitive intensity may enhance its order visibility from PGCIL.

Sensex Today | Gold edges up as investors eye Fed minutes, healthy 2026 outlook

Gold rose for a second day as investors awaited minutes of the Federal Reserve’s last meeting in a key week for US data, and a poll ranked the commodity as one of the more favored assets for 2026.

Bullion climbed as much as 0.7%, having also risen in the previous session to break a three-day losing streak. A high- stakes earnings report from Nvidia Corp. due Wednesday will present the next test for investors uneasy about the stratospheric valuations of stocks linked to artificial-intelligence developments.

The precious metal traded around $4,090 an ounce despite a drop in global equities, a trend that can sometimes affect gold in the short term by forcing traders to unwind leveraged positions.

Ravi Singh, Chief Research Officer from Master Capital Services

Tenneco Clean Air India made an impressive Dalal Street entry on Wednesday, November 19 by listing at a premium of 27% to its issue price. The Tenneco IPO received heavy bidding in all categories. It was subscribed 58.83 times in total, with the retail portion getting booked 5.11 times, QIBs subscribing 166.42 times and NIIs subscribing 40.74 times, BSE data showed.

Tenneco Clean Air India is the domestic arm of Tenneco Inc, a leading global supplier of clean-air systems, powertrain components, and advanced suspension solutions. With its dominant market position at 57% in clean air for Indian commercial trucks and 52% in passenger vehicle shock absorbers, it is well-positioned in this market driven by BS-VI compliance and regulatory tailwinds.

The company's strong leadership in clean air and advanced automotive components, rising demand for SUVs and premium vehicles, a strategically diversified product portfolio, long-standing partnerships with OEMs, and access to global R&D put it in a good position to capitalize on both domestic growth and export opportunities.

Investors who have received allotted shares may book partial profit at listing at premium and can keep rest for long term. On the other hand, those who did not get shares in IPO may wait for dip.

Shivani Nyati, Head of Wealth at Swastika Investmart

Tenneco Clean Air India made a positive debut on the stock market, listing at Rs 505 per share, a premium of 27.20% over its issue price of Rs 397. The strong opening was supported by investor confidence in the company’s global backing, advanced clean-air and emission-control technology, and long-standing relationships with major automobile OEMs. Its diversified product range and alignment with tightening emission norms further strengthened sentiment.

Despite the upbeat debut, some caution remains due to the auto sector’s cyclicality, dependence on OEM volumes, and raw-material–linked margin pressures. The IPO attracted solid institutional interest, driven by expectations of steady demand for emission-control systems and operational gains as scale improves. Allottees may consider booking partial gains and holding the rest with a stop-loss near Rs 480.
