Friday’s gain helps market regain losses of last week

Sensex & Nifty rise more than 1% each while Midcap index slips 1%

Market manages to post weekly gains despite ongoing geopolitical tensions

After showing choppy movement amidst rising geo-political tension the last few sessions, Nifty finally witnessed an excellent breakout on Friday and closed the day higher by 319 points. After opening with a positive note, the market moved up sharply in the early part of the session. The upside momentum sustained in the mid to later part of the session and Nifty closed at the highs.

A long bull candle was formed on the daily chart after the formation of narrow range movement on the downside in the last three sessions. This market action is indicating a decisive upside breakout of choppy movement. Nifty on the weekly chart formed a long bull candle after a sharp weakness of last week and is placed at the upper end of broader high low range. This is positive indication.

The underlying trend of Nifty is positive. The next upside levels to be watched around 25250. A decisive breakout of the range could pull Nifty towards the next upside target of 25650 in the near term. Any consolidation or minor dips down to the immediate supports of 24900 could be a buy-on-dips opportunity.

Markets witnessed consolidation after the recent spell of subdued trend, as strong European cues and positive Dow Futures triggered a massive rally in local benchmarks.

Investors also resorted to short covering ahead of next week's monthly derivatives expiry. Despite the rebound, investors would still maintain caution due to the ongoing West Asia conflict, as any spike in crude oil prices owing to escalation in tension could fuel uncertainty and spook markets.

Markets showed strength and gained over a percent after three sessions of lackluster movement. Following an initial uptick, the Nifty gradually moved higher, surpassing the key hurdle at 25,000 and closing near the day’s high at 25,112. Sentiment improved after the news report indicated a possible de-escalation in the Iran-Israel conflict, with the U.S. signaling a delay in potential action, which led to a softening in crude oil prices.

Additionally, consistent buying by FIIs in the cash segment further supported the market. All key sectors participated in the rally, with realty, financials, and metals emerging as top gainers. The broader indices also saw relief, posting gains in the range of 1% to 1.4%.

The outlook remains positive, and a decisive move above 25,200 on the Nifty would signal the end of the ongoing 5-week consolidation phase and open the path toward the 25,600–25,800 zone.

In the absence of any major domestic events, global markets will continue to guide sentiment. We maintain our positive yet cautious stance and advise focusing on stock selection, particularly in line with sectoral trends.

The national equity indices surged as Middle East tension moderated with risk of immediate military actions reduced as US dialogue with Iran is expected to take place. The development led the crude price to correct, favouring domestic markets and boosting foreign investors’ sentiments.

Rupee traded positive with gains of 0.15 at 86.57, supported by softer crude oil prices and a weaker dollar index. Continued FII and DII inflows into Indian markets have helped limit the rupee's downside despite ongoing geopolitical tensions over the past few months. The rupee is expected to trade in a range of 86.00 to 86.85.

Indian rupee ended 14 paise higher at 86.59 per dollar on Friday versus Thursday's close of 86.73.

BSE Midcap index rose 1.2 percent and smallcap index gained 0.5 percent.

All the sectoral indices ended in the green, with metal, PSU Bank, realty, power, telecom, capital goods up 1-2 percent.

Jio Financial, M&M, Bharti Airtel, Bharat Electronics, Trent were among top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, Maruti Suzuki, Dr Reddy's Laboratories.

Indian Rupee gained today on surge in domestic markets and some softening in crude oil prices. However, a strong US Dollar and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East capped sharp gains.

We expect Rupee to trade with a negative bias amid uncertainty over geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Any further aggression over the weekend may put downside pressure on the Rupee. Strong US Dollar and elevated crude oil prices may also put downside pressure on the Rupee. However, FII inflows and positive tone in the domestic markets may support Rupee at lower levels. USDINR spot price is expected to trade in a range of Rs 86.30 to Rs 86.95.

Currently, the stock is trading 12.41 percent below its 52-week high and 29.07 percent above its 52-week low.

Aegis Vopak Terminals and Sea Lord Containers has executed the business transfer agreement to acquire LPG Terminal having Cryogenic static LPG storage capacity of 82,000 MT at New Mangalore Port, from Sea Lord Containers Limited, via slump sale basis on going concern basis on such terms and conditions as contained in the BTA resulting in new capacity addition at Mangalore.

The board of directors of the company approved today issuance of secured, redeemable, rated, listed, non-convertible debentures of face value of Rs 1,00,000 each for an amount aggregating up to Rs 1600,00,00,000 in dematerialized form, through private placement.

We continue to believe the IPO demand was driven by attractive valuation levels, offering reasonable long term upside potential along with a well-diversified product portfolio across agriculture, industrial, and domestic water solutions.

We also see company’s strategic positioning to benefit from ongoing government infrastructure and rural development initiatives, especially those focused on water management and irrigation. We view Oswal Pumps as a compelling long-term investment opportunity, well-aligned with the government’s continued emphasis on rural electrification and promotion of solar-powered irrigation systems.

Post listing, we continue to recommend a HOLD for the long term, as the company is well-positioned to benefit from structural growth drivers in the agri and infrastructure sectors.

Oswal Pumps shares made a muted stock market debut on Friday, June 20, listing with a premium of 3 percent on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The Rs 1,387.34-crore issue was subscribed 34.42 times between June 13-17 in the primary market.

Shares of Oswal Pumps were listed at Rs 634 per share on the NSE, a premium of 3.26 percent over its IPO price. The issue had a price band of Rs 584-614 per share.

On the BSE, the shares of the company were listed at Rs 632 apiece, a premium of 2.93 percent. The company's total market capitalization post listing of shares stood at Rs 7,203.37 crore.

The Sensex was up 262.60 points or 0.32 percent at 81,624.47, and the Nifty was up 74.05 points or 0.30 percent at 24,867.30. About 1712 shares advanced, 1260 shares declined, and 123 shares unchanged.

Brigade Group’s managed workspace brand, BuzzWorks, has expanded its presence in Hyderabad, signing a deal with Infor India for a 24,000 square feet workspace at Auro Orbit, HITEC City.

This supports BuzzWorks' broader plan to reach 1 million square feet of managed workspace across its portfolio by the end of FY2026.

After the conclusion of the inspection, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued 7 observations in the Form-483, for company's pharma division in Kothur, Hyderabad. US FDA had conducted an inspection at the said division during June 9-19. The company will address the observations within the stipulated timeline.
