Indian equity indices ended on a flat note with Nifty at 25,460 on July 7. At close, the Sensex was up 9.61 points or 0.01 percent at 83,442.50, and the Nifty was up 0.30 points at 25,461.30.

Dilip Parmar, Research Analyst, HDFC Securities

The Indian Rupee has experienced depreciation against the US Dollar, consistent with the broader trend observed across Asian currencies. This downturn is primarily attributed to weakened market sentiment following the recent pronouncements by the US President regarding a prospective extra 10% tariff on BRICS.

The USDINR pair is anticipated to exhibit a continued southward trajectory until greater clarity emerges concerning the proposed trade agreements with US.

The pair currently faces resistance at 86.30 and finds support at 85.30. The prevailing market bias indicates a favorable outlook for the US Dollar against the Indian Rupee.

Ajit Mishra – SVP, Research, Religare Broking

Markets made a muted start to the week and ended almost unchanged, continuing the ongoing consolidation phase. After a flat opening, the Nifty traded within a narrow range throughout the session and finally settled at 25,459.95. Most sectoral indices moved in line with the market trend, with IT and metal emerging as the top losers. However, the FMCG pack, which had been inactive for a while, showed signs of strength and posted decent gains. The broader indices also witnessed lackluster trading and ended with marginal losses.

Markets remain in a wait-and-watch mode ahead of trade deal updates and the start of the earnings season. That said, the underlying tone remains positive, supported by rotational buying in heavyweight stocks across sectors. Amid the ongoing consolidation, we maintain our bullish view and recommend continuing with a “buy on dips” approach, focusing on stock selection based on relative strength.

Vaibhav Vidwani, Research Analyst at Bonanza

Today, Indian stock market closed with a modest positive bias despite early volatility and global uncertainties. The Nifty 50 ended near 25,461 levels, showing resilience after opening slightly lower amid concerns over the US-India trade deal and regulatory developments, including SEBI's interim ban on US quant firm Jane Street. The Sensex remained largely flat, reflecting cautious investor sentiment.

The market's positive closing was primarily driven by sustained buying interest from domestic institutional investors, which helped offset pressure from global trade tensions and profit booking at higher levels. Key sectors such as FMCG, oil & gas, and realty witnessed selective buying, contributing to the market's overall stability.

Looking ahead, market expectations remain cautiously optimistic. The near-term trend will likely depend on clarity regarding the US-India trade negotiations and domestic corporate earnings results for Q1 FY26. While global macro factors continue to inject volatility, steady domestic institutional support and positive sectoral performance may provide a buffer to the markets, enabling a gradual recovery and consolidation in the coming weeks.

Shrikant Chouhan, Head Equity Research, Kotak Securities:

Today, the benchmark indices witnessed narrow-range activity. The the Sensex was up by 10 points. Among sectors, the FMCG index outperformed, rallied 1.73 percent, whereas the Media and Defense indices shed over 1 percent. Technically, after a muted open, the market hovered between the 25,400/83250 to 25,475/83400 ranges throughout the day. A small candle on the daily charts and non-directional activity on intraday charts indicate indecisiveness between the bulls and the bears.

We are of the view that 25,500/83500 will act as an immediate breakout zone for traders. Above this level, the market could rally up to 25,575/83700–25,650/84000. On the flip side, below 25,400/83250, we could see a quick intraday correction down to 25,300/83000. Further weakness may also continue, potentially dragging the market down to 25,225/82800. The current market texture is non-directional; hence, level-based trading would be the ideal strategy for day traders.

July 07, 2025· 15:28 IST

Anuj Choudhary – Research Analyst at Mirae Asset Sharekhan

Indian Rupee declined by nearly quarter percent on surge in the US Dollar index and rising crude oil prices. Trade tariff uncertainty and risk aversion in global markets too weighed on the domestic currency. US President Donal Trump has threatened to impose an additional 10% tariff on countries having anti American policies such as the BRICS.

We expect Rupee to fall on risk off sentiments amid uncertainty over trade deal and recovery in the greenback. However, overall tone in crude oil remains bearish which may be supportive for the rupee. USDINR spot price is expected to trade in a range of Rs 85.70 to Rs 86.50.

Sandip Raichura - CEO of Retail Broking and Distribution & Director, PL Capital

Gold has come down slightly after the ceasefire announcements as well as stronger than expected US data in recent days. However, given that Gold buying by central banks is running at above 1000 tons per annum , and unlikely to abate in the next few months, and that inflation is still running higher than what the Fed expects, we continue to remain bullish on gold from the medium term point of view and believe it will range between 3150-3500 in the mid term and possibly cross 3700 in the slightly longer term.

Aditya Gaggar, Director of Progressive Shares

Nifty50 is oscillating within the tight range of 25,380-25,580 and forming a Bullish Flag and Pole pattern. A decisive move above the 25,580 mark would confirm a breakout, potentially leading to further upside. The immediate support is placed at 25,380, while resistance stands at 25,580. BankNifty is showing early signs of a potential bearish divergence (although not yet confirmed). A break above 57,600 would nullify the bearish setup, whereas a sustainable move below 56,640 could drag the Index lower towards 56,300. The key support and resistance levels for BankNifty are placed at 56,850 and 57,200, respectively.

We remain positive on OMCs (BPCL, HPCL, and IOC) from the Energy sector as they have already confirmed breakouts. We believe that soon a breakout will occur in the IT sector, which will provide a directional trend.

The Pharma sector is pointing towards a trend reversal, with a breakout from an Inverted Head and Shoulder pattern (Aurobindo Pharma-Falling Channel Breakout, and Glenmark Pharma & Laurus Labs-Rounding Bottom Breakout).

The Metal and PSU Banking sectors are on the brink of an important pattern breakout, and a strong rally could follow once confirmed. The Realty sector displays signs of a trend reversal in the lower timeframe, with a bullish pattern formation; however, a confirmatory move is essential.
