Ajit Mishra – SVP, Research, Religare Broking

Markets traded in a volatile but in a narrow range and ended marginally lower, extending the ongoing consolidation phase. After an initial dip, the Nifty attempted to recover in the first half; however, a sharp decline in select heavyweights during the final hours derailed the recovery and dragged the index lower. Eventually, the Nifty settled at 25,476.10, down by 0.18%.

On the sectoral front, the mixed trend persisted—FMCG and auto sectors edged higher, while realty, metal, and IT were among the top losers. The broader market also reflected a mixed performance, with the small-cap index gaining over half a percent, while the mid-cap index ended almost flat.

While the tariff-related concerns linger, the focus now shifts to the earnings season, with IT major, TCS, scheduled to announce its results on Thursday, July 10. Additionally, the weekly expiry could add to the choppiness. Amid all this, we maintain our bullish stance and recommend continuing with a “buy on dips” strategy, with a strong emphasis on stock selection.

Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities

Nifty witnessed range-bound movement after a strong upmove, facing stiff resistance around 25,500–25,550. On the hourly chart, the index has slipped below the 50-hour simple moving average, while the RSI has also moved below the 50 mark, indicating weakening momentum. However, it continues to hold above the breakout zone of 25,200–25,250, which may act as immediate support in the short term. As long as this level is sustained, the broader trend remains positive. A sustained move above 25,550 could trigger fresh upside.

July 09, 2025· 15:55 IST

Vaibhav Vidwani, Research Analyst at Bonanza

Today, the Indian stock market closed marginally lower, with the Nifty 50 index slipping by approximately 0.22% to 25,476, down 46 points from the previous close. The market exhibited volatility throughout the session, with the index fluctuating between a low of 25,424.8 and a high of 25,548.7. The negative closing was primarily influenced by the nationwide Bharat Bandh strike called by a coalition of trade unions protesting government policies perceived to favor large corporations at the expense of workers.

Although the stock exchanges remained open, the strike caused disruptions in banking, transport, and other sectors, leading to cautious investor sentiment and subdued trading volumes in certain regions. Market participants also remained cautious ahead of upcoming corporate earnings announcements and global macroeconomic.

Dilip Parmar – Senior Research Analyst, HDFC Securities

The Indian Rupee reversed its initial losses to gain throughout the day, performing better than most other Asian currencies. This strength was primarily attributed to dollar supply from local banks and renewed optimism surrounding a potential US-India trade deal. Meanwhile, the dollar index experienced fluctuated in the narrow range as US President Donald Trump reiterated his commitment to aggressive tariff plans, emphasizing that he would not grant further extensions on country-specific levies slated for early August.

In the near term, the spot USDINR is expected to face resistance at 86.30 and find support at 85.25.

July 09, 2025· 15:48 IST

Aditya Gaggar Director of Progressive Shares

A rangebound activity was witnessed for most part of the session, but a sudden fall in the last session dragged the Index lower to close the trade at 25,476.10 with a loss of 46.40 points. FMCG was the top gainer, followed by Auto, whereas Realty and Metal declined by over 1.40% each. A mixed trend was seen among the Broader markets, where Midcaps more or less moved in tandem with Nifty50, while Smallcaps outperformed. Despite the Flag and Pole formation breakout, the Index failed to capitalise on the positive momentum and formed a bearish candle. In terms of levels, 25,580 and 25,430 will continue to act as immediate resistance and support, respectively.

June 2025, being quarter-end, has seen significantly less outflows from institutional investors compared to historic quarter-ends. Also, a new sub-category introduced by SEBI under FOF called Income Plus Arbitrage FOF has seen encouraging traction from both institutional and retail investors. This has led to strong flows into arbitrage and short to long duration categories indirectly.

Equity flows are well-calibrated into core categories like Flexi Cap, Large and Mid, Mid, and Small Cap categories.

Thematic fund flows are moderated to an extent. SIP flows, which are a dipstick for retail appetite, still continue to be strong, reflecting the confidence and maturity of retail investors and distributors. Gold and Silver ETFs continue to attract positive flows. Overall, another strong positive month of net flows for the MF industry, despite being a quarter-end.

Indian Rupee weak on Wednesday on positive tone in the US Dollar and surge in crude oil prices. Weak domestic markets and uncertainty over trade tariffs also weighed on the Rupee. India and US are expected to finalise a mini trade deal which may support the domestic currency.

We expect Rupee to weaken on uncertainty over trade tariffs and rising crude oil prices. However, overall weakness in the US Dollar may support the Rupee at lower levels. Traders may remain cautious ahead of the FOMC meeting minutes USDINR spot price is expected to trade in a range of Rs 85.50 to Rs 86.0

Anindya Banerjee, Head of Currency and Commodity, Kotak Securities:

USD/INR opened higher at 85.87, gaining 18 paise, driven by a fresh wave of U.S. tariff concerns under President Trump. While no new tariffs have been imposed on India, Trump's threats of steep tariffs on the pharmaceutical sector pose a latent risk. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) turned positive in the first week of July after net outflows in June, offering some support to the rupee. However, vigilance is warranted as the U.S. Dollar Index strengthens and long-term U.S. and Japanese bond yields surge, potentially sparking risk-off sentiment in global markets.

We anticipate USD/INR to trade within a 85.50–86.50 range on the spot market, with an upward bias. Key support lies at 85.50–85.75, while resistance is near 86.35–86.50. A break above 86.50 could target 87.00

Drumil Vithlani, Technical Research Analyst at Bonanza

Union Bank of India is currently consolidating within a defined range of Rs 159–Rs 138, indicating a sideways trend in the near term. Until a decisive breakout on either side occurs, the view remains range-bound.

From an indicator perspective, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) is trading below the midpoint, signaling a lack of directional momentum. Traders holding positions may consider maintaining them with a strict stop loss below Rs 138, while fresh directional trades should be avoided unless the range is

breached decisively.
