The Indian resumed its downward trajectory following Tuesday’s pause, weighed down by a rebounding US Dollar against major currencies. For the year 2025, the Rupee emerged as the regional laggard, with spot prices whipsawed by tightening dollar liquidity, surging trade deficit, relatively high US Tariff and capital flows.
We anticipate a period of range-bound consolidation for USDINR, anchored between the 89.40 support and 90.26 resistance levels.

Indian equity benchmarks rebounded sharply on Wednesday, snapping their recent losing streaks as strong buying in metal stocks lifted overall sentiment. The gains supported by broad-based participation and positive market breadth. The rally was led by steel stocks after the government imposed a three-year safeguard duty of up to 12 percent on select steel imports, raising expectations of improved pricing power and profitability for domestic producers. JSW Steel and Tata Steel surged up to 5 percent, driving gains across the metal space.
Sentiment was further aided by a mild decline in crude oil prices, which helped ease inflation concerns, and a cooling in volatility, with India VIX slipping below 9.5. Value buying also emerged after the recent correction, as investors selectively accumulated stocks following multiple sessions of decline in the benchmarks. Broader markets joined the rebound, with mid- and small-cap indices rising up to 1 percent, reinforcing the recovery.
We remain cautious on the durability of the upmove. Persistent foreign institutional investor selling and the lack of fresh global or domestic triggers, particularly on the US–India trade front, continue to cap upside potential. From a technical perspective, while the pullback from lower levels has provided short-term relief, the Nifty needs to decisively move above the 26,000–26,050 zone to signal a clearer reversal. Until then, markets may remain range-bound with a cautious bias, even as bargain buying supports intermittent rebounds.

Today, the Indian equity markets closed the final trading session of 2025 on a positive and confident note, with benchmark indices ending firmly in the green. The Nifty 50 closed at 26,129, while the Sensex gained around 545 points during the session. The year end rally reflected improving risk appetite, supported by stable global cues and encouraging domestic developments.
Overall, Indian equities ended 2025 with high single digit to low double digit annual gains.
The Union Cabinet approved fresh adjusted gross revenue relief for Vodafone Idea. Under the package, AGR dues of about Rs. 87,695 crore have been frozen, with a five year moratorium on payments and repayments pushed out to FY32-41. This significantly eased near term solvency concerns for Vodafone Idea and improved sentiment across the telecom value chain, including infrastructure players like Indus Towers.
On the macro front, recent IIP data pointed to steady manufacturing momentum toward the end of 2025. This reinforced confidence in India’s domestic growth outlook despite global uncertainties. As a result, cyclicals, capital goods, and rate sensitive stocks participated in the year end recovery, even as mid cap performance remained selective.
Meanwhile, metals and steel stocks saw mixed moves. Market assessed India’s decision to impose a five year anti-dumping duty on certain steel imports from China. While the move is structurally positive for domestic producers, some profit-taking was seen after a strong rally, even as the medium term outlook on pricing power remains supportive.

After showing weakness with choppy momentum in the last few sessions, Nifty witnessed sharp breakout on Wednesday and closed the day with healthy gains of 190 points. After opening on a positive note, the market continued with sharp upside momentum for better part of the session. However, there was a minor profit booking seen towards the end and Nifty closed near the highs.
A long bull candle was formed on the daily chart with minor upper shadow. This market action was formed after the formation of doji type candle pattern of Tuesday. Technically, this market action indicates a formation of higher bottom reversal pattern. Nifty has moved up from near the support of ascending trend line. This is positive indication and one may expect more upside in the short term.
The underlying trend of Nifty remains positive. One may expect Nifty to advance towards the crucial overhead resistance of around 26250-26350 levels in the short term before consolidating again at the hurdle. Immediate support is placed at 26000.

Markets ended the 2025 on a strong note, posting a broad-based recovery. Looking ahead, expectations are rising for a constructive rebound in 2026, supported by improving demand conditions. Investor sentiment is likely to hinge on corporate earnings and a potential uptick in nominal GDP growth.
Metal stocks led gains today after the government announced import tariffs on steel products. Meanwhile, the oil & gas sector outperformed on the back of anticipated stable demand and stronger refining margins.

Markets ended the final trading session of the calendar year on a positive note, with the Nifty 50 gaining around 0.74%. The index opened marginally higher and gradually moved towards the 26,200 level during the session. However, profit-taking in the final hour trimmed some of the gains, and the Nifty eventually settled at 26,134. Sectoral participation was broad-based, with energy, metal and auto stocks emerging as the top performers. The broader market outperformed the benchmarks, with both mid- and small-cap indices rising close to 1% each.
Market sentiment was primarily driven by domestic policy developments and stock-specific action. The government’s decision to impose safeguard duties on select steel imports boosted sentiment in the metal space, enhancing earnings visibility for domestic producers. Additionally, notable strength in heavyweight stocks across sectors provided further support to the market. These positives helped offset the impact of continued foreign institutional investor outflows, which otherwise kept overall sentiment cautious.
From a technical standpoint, the Nifty has once again approached the upper end of its prevailing consolidation range near 26,200. A decisive breakout above this level could trigger the next leg of upward momentum, while failure to do so may lead to renewed profit-taking. We maintain a positive yet cautious outlook on the index and recommend a sector-specific approach, with a preference for banking, auto and metal stocks, while remaining selective in other sectors.
