Ajit Mishra – SVP, Research, Religare Broking
Markets traded with strength on Monday and remained firmly in positive territory, supported by encouraging global cues and optimism around an interim India–US trade framework. The benchmark indices opened higher, with the Nifty moving above the 25,800 level in early trade and holding gains through the session to finally close at 25,867.30. Buying interest was widespread, with realty, metal and pharma among the top gainers, while midcap and smallcap segments also posted notable advances, signalling an improvement in risk appetite after the recent bout of weakness.
Investor sentiment was lifted by reports that India and the United States have moved closer to a trade agreement that includes tariff reductions and deeper economic cooperation. This development helped remove a key overhang that had been weighing on markets and triggered fresh buying across sectors. Mixed global cues, along with supportive moves in Asian markets, further reinforced the positive undertone.
The latest move in the index suggests a likely retest of the 26,000 level on the Nifty soon, and a decisive breakout above this zone could open the path toward a new record high. We therefore reiterate a buy-on-dips approach, with emphasis on stock selection based on sectoral strength. Most key sectors, except IT, are participating in the up move, though on a rotational basis, so positions should be aligned accordingly with disciplined risk management.

Nifty witnessed a sharp up move on the back of strong global cues on Monday and closed the day higher by 173 points. After opening with an upside gap of 194 points, the market shifted into a consolidation with positive bias for better part of the session. The opening upside gap has been filled partially.
A small red candle was formed on the daily chart with gap up opening. After a massive rally and a consolidation in the early part of February, the market bounced back smartly and sustained above the hurdle of 25800 levels. The opening upside gap of 3rd Feb is still open partially and that has been added with Monday's up gap. This is positive indication and signals a formation of bullish runaway gap, which are normally formed in the middle of uptrend.
The underlying trend of Nifty remains positive. The next upside levels to be watched around 26000 and 26350 in the near term. Immediate support is placed at 25700.

Nifty kicked off the week strongly, surging 173 points to close at 25867. It staged a 100-point recovery from the day's low after early profit booking, signaling clear bull control as it ended near the session high. NSE cash market volumes were higher by 6% compared to last trading session.
SBI, Shriram finance, and Grasim led gainers list of Nifty, while Max Health, NTPC, and ITC witnessed selling pressure and ended as top losers.
All sectoral indices closed in the green, led by Media, Consumer Durables, and Realty.
The broader market steals the show, significantly outperforming the benchmarks. The Nifty Midcap 100 climbed 1.58%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 surged 2.64%. Market breadth was decisively bullish, with the BSE advance-decline ratio closing at a strong 2.45 level.
The rupee weakened 11 paise to 90.76 against the dollar, driven mainly by surging precious metal prices fueling importer dollar demand.
Having partially filled the prior gap range of 25108-25641, the index has firmly resumed its uptrend while holding above all key moving averages, backed by bullish MACD and RSI turns on daily/weekly charts. Short-term resistance looms near 26000, a break above could propel it toward fresh all-time highs beyond 26373. On the downside, the 25,450–25,500 zone remains a strong support.

The Indian rupee's early gains have hit a roadblock as a sharp rebound in precious metal prices stoked higher dollar demand from importers. Despite a recent recovery in global risk appetite following the Indo-US trade deal, the currency remains sensitive to persistent capital outflows, as foreign portfolio investors continue to recalibrate their Indian exposure.
The bias for the USDINR pair remains bullish until it breaks the 90 odd levels while get resistance at 91.10.

Abhinav Tiwari Research Analyst at Bonanza
Today, the Indian equity markets started the week on a strong note and continued to gain through the day. The Sensex rose 0.58% to close at 84,065, while the Nifty 50 gained 0.68% to finish at 25,867.
Buying was broad based, with most sectors participating in the rally. Midcap and smallcap stocks outperformed the benchmarks, showing improved risk appetite beyond large index stocks.
Financials and cyclical stocks led the move. PSU banks were the key highlight, with State Bank of India jumping over 6%, lifting the Nifty Bank index. This reflects ongoing confidence in the banking sector, supported by healthy credit growth and improving asset quality. Other cyclical sectors such as metals, real estate, media and consumer durables rose 1-3%, pointing to optimism around domestic demand and the capex recovery.
Global cues were supportive. Market sentiment improved after Japan’s snap election resulted in a decisive victory for Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s Liberal Democratic Party. This led to a sharp rally in Japanese equities, with the Nikkei hitting record highs, and helped lift overall Asian market sentiment.
At home, sentiment was further supported by optimism around the recently announced India-US trade framework. Expectations of tariff reductions across several goods have improved export visibility and helped revive foreign investor interest.
The near term outlook for equities remains positive, supported by favourable global sentiment, strong domestic liquidity, healthy bank performance and trade related optimism. However, after a sharp rally, some profit taking and short term volatility cannot be ruled out.

Sudeep Shah, Head - Technical and Derivatives Research at SBI Securities
Nifty opened with a gap up but surrendered most of its early gains within the first candle and then moved in a narrow sideways range for the rest of the session, ending at 25,867, up 0.68%. On the daily chart, the index formed a small-bodied candle with wicks on both sides, reflecting indecision. However, the close above the previous three days’ high is a constructive sign. The DI lines in the ADX indicator have started to widen slightly, suggesting that directional strength may be returning to the index.
On the sectoral front, Nifty Media ended the day as the top gainer with gains over 4%, followed by Nifty PSU Bank. On the other hand, Nifty CPSE ended the day as the top sectoral loser, closing the day 0.13% lower, followed by Nifty PSE. With regards to stocks, SBIN & Shriram Finance emerged as the top stock gainers amongst the Nifty pack while Maxhealth & NTPC emerged as the top two losers.
The Midcap index outperformed the benchmark and closed above the previous three-day range. Unlike Nifty, which turned sideways after the opening move, Midcaps showed steady buying interest through the session and closed at 60,441, up 1.58%, signalling improving participation in the broader market.
The Smallcap index outperformed both Nifty and Midcap, forming a sizeable bullish candle and closing above its 50-day EMA on the daily chart. A sustained move above current levels could lead to a continued extension of pullback in the coming sessions.
The market breadth improved as the advance-decline ratio was heavily skewed in the favour of bulls at day’s close. A total of 418 stocks out of the Nifty 500 universe ended in the green.
Nifty View
Going ahead, the immediate resistance for Nifty is placed in the 25,970–26,000 zone. Any sustainable move above this zone could result in Nifty extending its pullback towards 26,200, followed by 26,400 in the short term. On the downside, the zone of 25,780–25,750 zone is likely to act as an immediate support.
Bank Nifty View
Bank Nifty also opened with a strong gap up but quickly gave up most of the early gains and remained range-bound through the day. The 60,520–60,490 zone acted as a firm intraday support, with the index managing to hold above it consistently. On the daily chart, RSI has settled a tad above 60, indicating a strengthening bullish bias despite the intraday consolidation.
For Bank Nifty, the immediate resistance is placed in the 60,800–60,900 zone, making it a crucial supply area to watch. Any sustained move above this zone could lead to Index continuing its up move on the upside towards 61,300, followed by 61,600 in the near term. On the downside, the zone of 60,400–60,300 zone is likely to act as a strong support.

Positive signals from the trade deal, coupled with the return of FIIs, fuelled a risk-on sentiment in the market. Investors are closely watching upcoming results, with PSU banks delivering stronger-than-anticipated performance, helping the PSU bank index outperform. Meanwhile, an accumulation strategy was observed in consumer durables and real estate stocks following the recent correction, driven by expectations of a demand revival.
The recovery was broad-based, with sectors such as cement, capital goods, textiles, and consumer discretionary attracting investor interest, supported by union budget proposals and favourable trade deals.
