Shrikant Chouhan, Head Equity Research, Kotak Securities
Today, the benchmark indices experienced narrow-range activity, with the Nifty ending 14 points higher while the Sensex declined by 27 points. Among sectors, Defence, Pharma, and Healthcare indices rallied over 1 percent. Technically, after a muted open, the market hovered throughout the day within the 25,400/82000 to 25,570 /82500 range. The intraday activity was non-directional, with bearish candle on the daily charts indicating indecisiveness between bulls and bears.
We are of the view that the current market texture is non-directional, and traders are likely waiting for either side to breakout. On the higher side, 25,600/82600 would be the immediate breakout zone for traders. Above this level, the market could rally towards 25,700-25,750/82900-83000. On the flip side, below 25,400/82000, selling pressure is likely to accelerate. If the level is breached, the market could slip to 25,300-25,275/81700-81600.

Nagaraj Shetti, Senior Technical Research Analyst at HDFC Securities
Nifty continued with consolidation movement on Thursday and closed the day higher by 14 points amidst volatility. After opening on a positive note, the market failed to sustain the upside momentum, as it slipped into weakness from the highs in the early-mid part of the session. There was a minor recovery from the lows towards the end and Nifty closed the day off the lows.
A small negative candle was formed on the daily chart with lower shadow. Technically, this market action signals a lack of strength in the market to sustain the highs. Frequent lower highs have been formed recently and the repeated testing of the crucial lower supports was seen around 25400 levels. This is not a good sign.
The underlying trend of Nifty remains choppy. Crucial lower supports to be watched around 25400-25350 levels on any weakness from here. Immediate resistance is placed at 25600.

Sudeep Shah, Head - Technical and Derivatives Research at SBI Securities
On Thursday, the benchmark index Nifty traded within a narrow intraday band of 172 points, reflecting a day dominated by subdued volatility and cautious sentiment. For most of the session, the index hovered close to the day’s low, indicating persistent pressure from the bears. However, during the final hour of trade, Nifty experienced a modest recovery, staging a mild pullback from lower levels. By the closing bell, the index ended virtually unchanged, forming a small-bodied candle with a pronounced lower shadow, suggesting buying interest emerging near support zones.
For the past ten consecutive trading sessions, Nifty has been oscillating within a well-defined consolidation range of 25885–25327, signalling market indecision and lack of strong directional triggers. This prolonged sideways movement has resulted in flattened moving averages, reflecting the absence of momentum in either direction. Additionally, the daily RSI continues to move horizontally, aligning with the principles of RSI range-shift behaviour, and further reinforcing the ongoing consolidation phase.
In today’s session, within the Nifty constituents, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Eicher Motors emerged as the top performers, showcasing relative strength compared to the broader market. On the flip side, Trent and Eternal were the major laggards, dragging down the index. Sector-wise, Nifty Healthcare and Nifty Pharma led the gains, supported by renewed buying interest in defensives. Meanwhile, Nifty Media and Nifty FMCG underperformed, closing as the weakest sectoral indices for the day.
The broader market presented a divergent narrative. The Nifty Midcap 100 significantly outpaced the frontline indices, rallying 0.66% and forming a sizeable bullish candle, indicating strong participation from midcap stocks. In contrast, the Nifty Smallcap 100 ended flat, reflecting a more balanced battle between buyers and sellers. Market breadth leaned marginally positive, as the Advance/Decline ratio favoured advancers. From the Nifty 500 universe, 272 stocks closed in the green, highlighting a relatively healthy undertone in broader market sentiment.
Nifty View
Going ahead, for Nifty, the 50-day EMA zone of 25630-25660 will act as an immediate hurdle for the index. Any sustainable move above 25660 will lead to a sharp upside rally upto the 25800 level. On the downside, the zone of 25380-25350 will act as crucial support for the index.
Bank Nifty View
Over the last three trading sessions, the banking benchmark Bank Nifty has consistently taken support near the 60800 level, signalling the presence of strong buyers at lower zones. Each time the index approached this support band, it attracted renewed buying interest, resulting in a steady pullback from intraday lows. On the daily chart, Bank Nifty has been forming small-bodied candles with prominent lower shadows, a classical candlestick indication that market participants are willing to accumulate on dips. This pattern reinforces the emergence of a demand zone and highlights the reluctance of sellers to push the index meaningfully lower.
Looking ahead, the 60800–60700 range will continue to serve as a crucial support base for the index. A sustained hold above this zone will maintain the positive undertone and prevent a deeper corrective move. On the upside, the region between 61400–61500 is expected to act as a significant resistance band, where supply pressure has previously capped upward momentum. A breakout above 61500, especially with strong volumes and a decisive close, is likely to trigger a sharp upward acceleration.
If the index successfully surpasses this hurdle, it could pave the way for a near-term rally toward the 62000 mark, followed by a potential extension toward 62500 in the short term. Such a move would indicate a shift in momentum in favour of the bulls and could re-establish a stronger trending phase for the banking index.

Abhinav Tiwari Research Analyst at Bonanza
Today, the Indian stock markets ended almost flat after a volatile but directionless session. The Sensex closed at 82,248, while the Nifty traded in a narrow range around 25,500.
Sentiment remained weak due to the upcoming India GDP data, mixed global cues, uncertainty around global interest rate cuts, and ongoing geopolitical tensions.
Rail-linked stocks, including IRFC, stayed active amid stake sale discussions. Mid cap stocks such as Lupin, KSB, Sanofi India and Angel One moved on company specific news.
Markets are likely to remain range bound in the near term. High valuations may limit sharp gains, but steady domestic inflows should help prevent major declines. We may prefer quality large cap stocks rather than chasing short term rallies

The Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar, buoyed by foreign fund inflows and a softening in global commodity prices. However, early gains were pared as importers seized the opportunity for bargain buying and the greenback rebounded amid persistent geopolitical tensions.
Traders are now focused on the high-stakes US-Iran nuclear negotiations currently underway in Geneva.
Spot USDINR has established immediate support at 90.70, with key resistance seen at 91.08.

The domestic market surrendered its early gains amid mixed global cues and increased caution ahead of the US–Iran nuclear talks, as well as key data releases including US initial jobless claims and India’s GDP print, which triggered profit booking. As the session progressed, investors rotated towards non-cyclical pockets such as pharma and healthcare, while defence stocks gained on optimism over potential India–Israel tech-transfer initiatives.
Sentiment recovered in late trade following reports of meetings between Indian and US commerce officials, which rekindled hopes of progress in bilateral trade negotiations and made the market close flat.

The Nifty 50 witnessed another day of lackluster trading, as the index continued to remain confined within a narrow range before closing flat.
On the daily chart, the index has been consistently failing to reclaim the 21-EMA, exhibiting an overall lack of strength.
The RSI is in a bearish crossover, indicating weakening momentum.
The sentiment is likely to remain weak in the near term, with a possibility of falling towards 25,300. On the higher end, resistance is placed at 25,550–25,600.

The ₹3,100-crore IPO of Clean Max Enviro Energy was subscribed 94 per cent on the last day of bidding, reflecting a measured investor response in the current market environment. The QIB portion was subscribed 2.83 times, while the non-institutional investors’ portion saw 54 per cent subscription indicating selective institutional interest in the company’s renewable energy platform and long-term corporate power purchase model. The Retail Individual Investors (RIIs) category was subscribed 6 per cent, reflecting muted retail participation in the issue.
The trend suggests that while institutions appear constructive on the business model, broader investor participation remained cautious, likely factoring in valuation comfort, capital intensity, and near-term return visibility. For investors, this issue underscores the importance of aligning expectations with long-term execution rather than short-term listing performance.

Gaurav Garg, Research Analyst at Lemonn Markets Desk
Gold prices traded firm on MCX, with April gold futures hovering around ₹1.60–1.62 lakh per 10 grams, supported by safe-haven demand and global uncertainty. Despite intermittent profit-taking near record highs, the broader bias for gold remains constructively positive.
Silver prices, meanwhile, saw mild consolidation after recent sharp gains, with MCX silver trading near ₹2.80–2.85 lakh per kg. The recent pause reflects profit-booking rather than a trend reversal.
Overall, gold continues to offer stability, while silver remains more volatile but structurally supported by industrial demand and global cues.

Shishir Baijal, International Partner, Chairman and Managing Director, Knight Frank India
The BMC’s FY26–27 budget, its largest ever, is clearly infrastructure-driven, with significant allocations towards connectivity and resilience. INR 9,650 cr has been earmarked for bridge projects, alongside continued investments in the Coastal Road, the Versova–Dahisar corridor and the Goregaon–Mulund Link Road, while INR 1,800 cr towards storm water drainage reflects a sustained focus on flood mitigation. These investments go beyond incremental upgrades, they are effectively expanding Mumbai’s development footprint by improving access across key corridors and reducing infrastructure-led constraints in several micro-markets. This has a direct bearing on new development and the pace of redevelopment, particularly in suburban and land-constrained locations."
At the same time, the continued reliance on development-linked and infrastructure funds under DCPR mechanisms highlights a more integrated model where real estate monetisation is increasingly funding urban infrastructure, creating a self-reinforcing growth cycle. Importantly, this comes at a time when housing demand remains steady. Infrastructure is therefore not driving a recovery, but strengthening an already resilient market. The pace of execution will remain key in translating these allocations into on-ground impact.
