Indian equity indices ended the Muhurat Trading session on a strong note with Nifty at 24,300 on November 1.

The Sensex was up 335.06 points or 0.42 percent at 79,724.12, and the Nifty was up 99 points or 0.41 percent at 24,304.30. About 2904 shares advanced, 540 shares declined, and 72 shares unchanged.

Biggest Nifty gainers were M&M, ONGC, Adani Ports, Bharat Electronics, Eicher Motors, while losers Dr Reddy's Labs, HCL Tech, Britannia, Tech Mahindra and Wipro.

All sectoral indices ended in the green with auto index rose 1 percent.

The BSE midcap index was up 0.7 percent and smallcap index was up 1 percent.

Hari Singh Chauhan has resigned as Chief Executive Officer of the company, effective October 31, due to personal reasons.

Jalaj Sharma has resigned as Head of Technical Operations (Formulations) of the company, effective October 31, to pursue opportunities outside the company.

The company has invested Rs 300 crore in its subsidiary, Aegis Vopak Terminals. The subsidiary has allotted 1,27,65,957 equity shares to Aegis Logistics at a price of Rs 235 per share through preferential allotment. Following this investment, the company's shareholding in its subsidiary has increased from 50.55% to 51.14%.

The Indian indices begin Samvat 2081 on higher note on November 1 with Nifty above 24300.

The Sensex was up 357.57 points or 0.45 percent at 79,746.63, and the Nifty was up 109.60 points or 0.45 percent at 24,314.90. About 74 shares advanced, 7 shares declined, and 2 shares unchanged.

M&M, Eicher Motors, ONGC, Titan Company, IndusInd Bank were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Britannia, Sun Pharma, ICICI Bank, Infosys and HUL.

Promoter Kadam Holding sold a 3% stake in Genesys at an average price of Rs 755.77 per share and a 0.82% stake at an average price of Rs 777.95 per share. However, Discovery Global Opportunity Mauritius bought a 1.13% stake at an average price of Rs 750 per share.

Incofin India Progress Fund, the alternate investment fund, sold a 0.52% stake in the company at an average price of Rs 111.75 per share.

Societe Generale bought a 0.2% stake in Tilaknagar at an average price of Rs 287.8 per share from BOFA Securities Europe SA. As of September 2024, Societe Generale held a 1.83% stake, while BOFA Securities owned a 1.38% stake in the company.

Benchmark indices are trading strong in the pre-opening session.

The Sensex was up 1,071.64 points or 1.35 percent at 80,460.70, and the Nifty was up 296.90 points or 1.23 percent at 24,502.20.

Private health insurer Niva Bupa Health Insurance Company has filed red herring prospectus with the Registrar of Companies and has decided to open its Rs 2,200-crore initial share sale for subscription on November 7.

The IPO is a combination of fresh issuance of equity shares worth Rs 800 crore, and an offer-for-sale of Rs 1,400 crore worth shares by promoters.

Promoters Bupa Singapore Holdings Pte, and global private equity firm True North-owned Fettle Tone LLP will be selling Rs 350 crore, and Rs 1,050 crore worth shares in the offer-for-sale.

Promoters hold 89.07 percent shareholding in the company including Bupa Singapore Holdings Pte's 62.19 percent stake, and Fettle Tone LLP 26.80 percent.

Oil prices rose more than 2% on Friday after reports that Iran was preparing a retaliatory strike on Israel from Iraq in the coming days, though benchmarks were still set for a weekly decline.

Brent crude futures were up $1.72, or 2.4%, at $74.53 a barrel by 1024 GMT. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude rose $1.76, or 2.5%, to $71.02.

With Nifty returning 25 percent and Nifty 500 returning 30 percent in Samvat 2080, investors should be happy. But the 6.2% correction in October, the first above 5 percent correction in 54 months, has triggered anxiety over the market performance, going forward. Of serious concern is the relentless FII selling in October amounting to Rs 113858 crores through the exchanges. Given India’s elevated valuations and concerns over deceleration in earnings growth, FII selling might continue, impacting the benchmark indices. In such a scenario investors should focus on stock-specific investment where Q2 results have been good and earnings visibility is bright.

The latest data regarding banking indicates that deposit growth has caught up with credit growth and this augurs well for banking stocks which are fairly valued. Public capex is likely to pick up in H2FY25 and this augurs well for cement stocks. Pharma stocks like Sun Pharma and Cipla have good earnings visibility.

Muhurat Trading 2024 Live | The exchanges announced that the pre-opening session will take place from 5:45 PM to 6:00 PM.

Jet fuel, or ATF, price on Friday was hiked by 3.3 per cent and rate of commercial LPG used in hotels and restaurants increased by Rs 62 per 19-kg cylinder in the monthly revision done in line with international oil price trends.

The aviation turbine fuel (ATF) price was increased by Rs 2,941.5 per kilolitre, or 3.3 per cent, to Rs 90,538.72 per kl in the national capital, according to state-owned fuel retailers.

The hike comes after two rounds of reduction that had taken the rates to their lowest this year.

ATF price on October 1 was cut by 6.3 per cent (Rs 5,883 per kl) and by Rs 4,495.5 per kl, or 4.58 per cent on September 1. Read More

Goods and Services Tax collections rose to a six-month high of Rs 1.87 lakh crore in October, staying above the Rs 1.7 lakh crore mark for the eighth consecutive month, data released on November 1 showed.

Tax collections were 8.1 percent higher sequentially and 8.9 percent higher than in October 2023, when it stood at Rs 1.72 lakh crore, as festive season brought some cheer.

Indian equity indices ended lower for the second straight session on October 31, with Nifty falling below 24,200, intraday, amid selling in the IT, FMCG and banks.

At close, the Sensex was down 553.12 points or 0.69 percent at 79,389.06, and the Nifty was down 135.50 points or 0.56 percent at 24,205.35.

In the month of October, the BSE Sensex shed 5.8 percent and Nifty50 plunged 6.2 percent.

Biggest Nifty losers included Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, Infosys, TCS, Wipro, while gainers were Cipla, L&T, Dr Reddy's Labs, Hero MotoCorp and ONGC.

Among sectors, IT index shed nearly 3 percent, FMCG index was down nearly 1 percent, and bank index fell 0.5 percent. However, pharma and media indices rose 1.5 percent each.

The BSE midcap index shed 0.3 percent, while smallcap index rose 1.6 percent.
