The S&P Global Brazil Manufacturing PMI fell to 46.5 in September 2025 from 47.7 in August, marking the sharpest deterioration in operating conditions in 29 months. The sector posted its worst quarterly performance since Q2 2023, with new orders, output, and input purchases declining at the fastest pace since April 2023. Firms reduced inventories, while foreign sales fell modestly, as US tariffs triggered cancellations partly offset by stronger demand from Argentina, Italy, Mexico, Uruguay, and the UK. Employment ticked up slightly and sentiment stayed positive. Input costs dropped for the first time since late 2023, allowing firms to cut output prices.
