An insider from the ongoing investigation into Matthew Perry's ketamine-related death has revealed that the case is approaching its conclusion. Authorities are leaning toward charging multiple individuals in connection with the tragedy.

The final decision on whether to press charges rests with the U.S. Attorney's Office, which has declined to comment as of Tuesday, June 25.

Matthew Perry, renowned for his role in the iconic TV show ‘Friends,’ passed away on October 28 at the age of 54. The coroner ruled his death accidental, citing acute ketamine effects as the primary cause, with additional factors including drowning, coronary artery disease, and buprenorphine effects—a medication used for opioid addiction treatment.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner concluded its investigation in December, as reported by many publications. Following the medical examiner's findings, the LAPD launched a deeper probe into the circumstances surrounding Perry's overdose.

In May, an LAPD source informed PEOPLE that the department had been collaborating with the DEA and the U.S. Postal Inspector to trace the origins of the ketamine that led to Perry's untimely death. This extensive investigation kicked off in December after the medical examiner released their report, prompting law enforcement to scrutinise the chain of events and individuals involved.

At the time of his passing, Matthew Perry was receiving ketamine infusion therapy, as revealed by his autopsy report. In his memoir, ‘Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,’ released a year prior, Perry candidly discussed his battles with addiction.

“I wanted to share when I was safe from going into the dark side again. I had to wait until I was pretty safely sober—and away from the active disease of alcoholism and addiction—to write it all down. I was pretty certain that it would help people if I did.” Perry said.
