Vivek Agnihotri directorial The Bengal Files recently hit the theatres with positive reviews from the audience, and the critics as well. The film had high expectations, but it just had a decent opening at the box office.
The Bengal Files earned Rs 1.75 crore net in India on its first day, with an overall Hindi Occupancy of 21.24% on Friday. The film registered 15.08% morning shows, 18.58% afternoon shows, 22.08% evening shows and 29.20% occupancy in night shows.
The film saw a moderate start for the third and final instalment in the trilogy of films by the director. The film was released on September 5, following a series of controversies. The trailer for the movie was not shown during the Kolkata premiere.
Additionally, no theatres released The Bengal Files in West Bengal.
Meanwhile, the second instalment in the trilogy, The Kashmir Files, earned Rs 3.55 crore net in India on its first day of release in 2022. When the movie was released, opinions were divided; some hailed it as a "masterpiece," while others referred to it as "propaganda." Similar controversy has sparked the latest part of the trilogy.

The Bengal Files features an ensemble cast including Mithun Chakraborty, supported by Anupam Kher and producer-actor Pallavi Joshi. Darshan Kumar and Simrat Kaur also star in the key roles. The other cast members include Saswata Chatterjee, Namashi Chakraborty, Rajesh Khera, Puneet Issar, Priyanshu Chatterjee, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Sourav Das, and Mohan Kapur.
