A foreign tourist who has been travelling solo in India has recently shared how she was harassed at the New Delhi railway station despite having a train ticket. Travel-based content creator Klaudia Falenta shared a video of how she escaped from a scammer and said that the incident left her "blood boiling".
"Another crazy travel day in India, but this one definitely got my blood boiling, so let me tell you about it from the beginning," Falenta shared on Instagram, where she has close to 33,000 followers. Falenta added that it was her fifth day of travelling solo in India, and she was supposed to take an early morning train from New Delhi to Varanasi.
"I got an Uber to New Delhi station, and as I got to the entrance, a man stopped me and asked me to show him my ticket, and he was telling me that this is the wrong ticket and basically tried to scam me," the vlogger said.
She added that the man was trying to take her to some office far away and stall her long enough to miss her train. They allegedly argued for 10 minutes before she could move away. "I showed him all the other tickets I had, and they all looked the same, only then he let go of me."

'Unfiltered and real travel is not always positive'
The ordeal left the traveller feeling harassed as it also left her with little time to find the correct platform and board the train in the busy New Delhi railway station.
Writing about her now-viral video, Falenta said, "I almost didn’t wanna include these clips, because it’s so out of my character to be angry like this, and I don’t like seeing it. But then, I wouldn’t stay true to what I wanted to do, which is to show travel for what it really is. The unfiltered and real travel is not always positive and happy, and that’s when you grow the most as a person."
'Don't travel alone. India is not safe,' say netizens
Reacting to Falenta's video, several social media users, including those from India, urged her not to travel alone in the country. "Stop solo travelling in India. India is not safe, sister," commented one Instagram user.
Others commented on how unsafe the national capital is. "Stop going to DELHI for tourism. NOBODY in India goes to Delhi for a vacation," said another user, while a third added, "People need to stop going to Delhi. Internationally, there should be awareness against going to Delhi."
An Instagram user from Japan commented that they had been to South India and their experience was "actually very good".
This, however, is not the only incident in recent times that highlighted how unsafe international women travellers felt in north India, especially Delhi, when compared to the south. In fact, over the last month, two foreign women travellers rated the national capital -1 out of 10 and rated Kerala the highest in terms of safety and travel experience.
