A Blinkit customer, who received a free jar of Dot & Key sunscreen with her order, has claimed that she had an allergic reaction after applying the product on her face. Taking to Instagram, Rinku Choudhary shared that this has been a learning experience and that she would treat free products with caution henceforth. She also said that the incident forced her to take leave from work.
"There is a saying in Japanese: ada yori takai mono wa nai. It means there is nothing more expensive than what's free, and I learned it the hard way," she said in a video where her face appears visibly red and swollen. "Right now, there is swelling all over my face. I am not able to open my eyes properly."
Choudhary went on to explain that she had placed an order on Blinkit and had received the Dot & Key sunscreen as a freebie. While she admitted she did not perform a patch test before applying the product to her face, Choudhary said she had been tested and wasn't mostly allergic.
"It's a request to Dot & Key and Blinkit to look into this matter if this is a fake product. I don't know what because I have used your products earlier, so please look into this, and I hope you can at least help others. Our skin deserves care, not damage," she added.
Her video garnered more than 11,000 likes on Instagram, and soon other women shared similar complaints against the company.
"My mother experienced the same with Dot & Key vitamin C cream," commented one user, while another said, "Even with my skin, I had an allergic reaction to exactly the same product! My skin got extremely dry and flaky. Dot & Key, you need to look into this!"
A third user wrote, "This was the same with my too! Intense reactions and allergies."
Another woman said that she had a similar reaction to the company's moisturiser. "It burnt my face! Like burnt, it was as if I put bleach. It was so painful!" she said.
Neither Blinkit nor Dot & Key has reacted to the incident yet.
