Four Indian-origin entrepreneurs have secured spots on the latest Forbes ‘40 Under 40’ list of the world’s richest self-made billionaires, with a combined net worth of more than $11 billion. The list, released recently, features 40 individuals who achieved billionaire status before turning 40. Among them, Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath is the only India-based entrepreneur to make the cut.

Ankur Jain ranks 19 with $3.4 billion net worth

New York–based entrepreneur Ankur Jain, 35, occupied the 19th position with a net worth of $3.4 billion. Jain is the founder and CEO of Bilt Rewards, a home rental rewards platform valued by private investors at $10.8 billion. Before Bilt, Jain co-founded Humin, a contact management app later acquired by Tinder in 2016.

The Wharton School graduate is the son of a former dotcom billionaire and has emerged as one of the most influential young founders in the US tech ecosystem.

Nikhil Kamath only Indian on Forbes list

Closely behind Jain at rank 20 is Nikhil Kamath, 39, co-founder and chief financial officer of Bengaluru-based brokerage Zerodha, with a net worth of $3.3 billion. Kamath co-founded the company in 2010 with his brother, Nithin Kamath, now the CEO. The brothers were featured on the Forbes Billionaires List in 2023.

The publication had previously estimated Zerodha’s valuation at nearly $8 billion, placing the Kamath brothers among India’s most successful self-made entrepreneurs.

In 2024, Nikhil Kamath launched the podcast WTF is, adding to his growing public profile.

Youngest billionaires: Adarsh Hiremath and Surya Midha rank 27

The 27th position was jointly claimed by Adarsh Hiremath and Surya Midha, both 22, co-founders of AI recruiting startup Mercor, alongside their partner Brendan Foody. Hiremath and Midha, valued at Rs 1,826 crore each, are among the youngest billionaires ever listed by Forbes.

Mercor, founded in 2023, helps major Silicon Valley AI labs train their models at scale.

Hiremath grew up in the Bay Area and pursued a concurrent bachelor’s and master’s in computer science. Midha, born in Mountain View and raised in San Jose, earned a bachelor’s degree in foreign studies at Georgetown University.
