Most people think that to grow their own vegetables, they need a lush farm, but that is not the case. They can start a vegetable garden right on their balcony or patio. All they need are deep pots or containers with proper drainage and the right amount of sunlight. It is also important to ensure that you choose the right combination of veggies because not all plants grow well together.

Peppers

Who doesn’t love peppers? They are the heart of many loved dishes such as pizzas, salads, and pastas. The plant can be grown in containers and requires little maintenance. All you have to ensure is a container that is eight inches deep, placed in a sunny spot.

Radishes

Radishes are delightful in taste. They are best grown in shallow containers that are just about four to six inches deep. Perfectly suited for balconies with shade, they grow fast, much to the delight of home gardeners. If you are new to gardening, this is the easiest veggie to grow.

Cucumber

There’s no salad complete without a cucumber. Of late, it’s also used in healthy smoothies. Cucumber requires a large pot with proper drainage and a minimum of six hours of full sun. It needs consistent watering, but avoid waterlogging. They should be picked as they ripen so the plant can continue producing.

Beans

Beans are versatile and can be tossed into mixed vegetables or even lentils and soups. They need pots that are at least twelve inches deep and six to eight hours of sunlight, so ensure you place them accordingly on your balcony. Use loamy soil and avoid overwatering.

Spinach

Spinachis enjoyed in most Indian households for its nutritional benefits. It can be easily grown in cooler temperatures, with a pot that’s about six to eight inches deep.It needs moisture, which makes it suitable for growing from spring to fall when temperatures are suitable.

Cherry tomatoes

Cherry tomatoes are a favourite among many people. They can be grown in containers twelve inches deep and need six to eight hours of direct sunlight. It requires watering only when the top inch of the soil feels dry. Try to avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.
