Popular production company Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment has recently taken a legal route against people who are allegedly trying to extort money and disparage their movies, directors, and main actors.
The production house has recently taken to their official social media handle and released a statement on Monday, revealing that it had obtained reliable evidence, including call logs, that some people had been requesting money in return for refraining from posting offensive material online.
According to the company, these threats were obviously coercive in nature rather than valid criticism.
The statement shared on Instagram reads, “We recently came across evidence — including call recordings — indicating that a few individuals were demanding money and threatening to malign the reputation of our films, directors, and lead actors if their demands were not met.”
The production company has therefore referred the case to law enforcement for appropriate action. NGE emphasised that their actions are not directed at legitimate reviewers or independent voices within the film community, following their firm stance against malicious behaviour.
The production house further noted, “We wish to emphasize that these actions are directed solely at those engaging in such malicious practices and not at any genuine, independent reviewers or YouTubers. We value honest work and wholeheartedly welcome their contributions to the healthy progress of the film industry.”
NGE also reaffirmed their support for free speech and open discourse, highlighting its longstanding dedication to the Indian film industry.
The statement added, “We are firm supporters of the freedom of speech and expression as enshrined in the Constitution of India. We have never objected — and will never object — to fair criticism or reviews of our films. On the contrary, we believe that constructive criticism is essential for helping filmmakers grow and for fostering the healthy development of the industry.”
Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment has backed a series of movies this year, like the Tarun Mansukhani directorial Housefull 5. The film starred Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, and Riteish Deshmukh. They also had Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna action drama Sikandar, directed by A.R. Murugadoss.
The latest released action thriller, Baaghi 4, is also backed by NGE. Directed by A. Harsha, the film stars Tiger Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Sonam Bajwa, and Harnaaz Sandhu.
The production house is also gearing up for an exciting line-up, which includes Shahid Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, and Nana Patekar starrer action drama, O'Romeo. The upcoming film is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and slated to hit the theatres on Valentine's Day next year.
