The beautiful valley of Dzuko with rolling hills, colourful wildflowers, and clear natural beauty will be a great boon to tourism in Nagaland. It has been declared that the state government intends to develop it as one of the top 50 tourist destinations in India, to find a compromise between eco-tourism and sustainable development of infrastructure.

Dzukou Valley is located on the border between Nagaland and Manipur, at an altitude of approximately 2,400 metres. It is a scenic place with flowering seasonal plants, with rich forests, and with crystal clear streams, which has always been a draw to the trekkers and nature lovers. It is a valuable ecological site, and particularly due to its rare orchids, the Dzukou lily is seasonal and only found in the valley.

The development project will be centred on environmentally friendly accommodation, hiking paths, and visitor facilities that will not harm the fragile ecosystem of the valley. The government will restrict the number of tourists coming in and spread the message of environmental protection to ensure that the natural beauty is not ruined. The local communities will also receive some benefits in terms of employment and skill development within the hospitality, guiding and eco-tourism activities.

The months of October and November, when the valley is in full bloom, will become the main tourist periods attracting photographers, adventure hunters and wildlife enthusiasts. There is the expectation of better communication and infrastructure that will not affect the serene and pollution-free environment at Dzukou Valley.

The officials point out that the project has set out to bring the Dzukou Valley among the most celebrated sites in India, and at the same time maintain the ecological and cultural heritage of the Dzukou Valley. The project aims to draw both domestic and international tourists to Nagaland by incorporating sustainable tourism principles that will help in showcasing the richness of the natural and cultural diversity of Nagaland.

Dzukou Valley will become an example of responsible tourism through proper planning and the participation of the community, and present a unique mix of adventure, calmness, and environmental education benefits. The project may also spur other unexplored areas in Northeast India to adopt such projects, which will help make the region attractive as a unique travel destination.
