A man from southern Japan who was bullied as a child has spent more than 100 million yen (approximately Rs 5.7 crore) on plastic surgery in a lifelong quest to become what he calls “the world’s most beautiful person”, Japanese media reported.
Allen, 33, from Kochi prefecture, says he was mocked for his laugh lines and gentle personality throughout school. Classmates passed cruel notes, ignored his desk during cleaning, and even poked his head with a compass. The abuse pushed him into rebellion—stealing bicycles and motorcycles—landing him in juvenile detention.
After his release at 18, Allen vowed to transform himself. “If I become the world’s most beautiful person, I win. Those boys and girls who bullied me will age,” South China Morning Post (SCMP) quoted him as saying.
Currently, he describes himself as an entertainer and enjoys drag.
Over 200 surgeries and countingAllen began with nose, mouth and eye procedures, spending 15 million yen (Rs 86 lakh), before debuting on a Tokyo variety show. By 2015, he had undergone more than 200 surgeries. His transformation expanded to full-body work—hips, legs, back—using liposuction and laser therapy.
He aims for a “doll-like beauty” and says he will continue surgery for life. Reports, however, note he suffers from high blood pressure and requires general anaesthesia due to pain sensitivity, increasing health risks.
Allen revealed that since age 17, five or six wealthy individuals have supported him financially, covering living costs and procedures. In return, he accompanies them to meals, shopping and parties.
He shares his journey on social media, where he has over three lakh followers on Instagram, and has appeared on television shows and endorsed a skincare brand. He also plans to publish a book.
Mixed reactions online
Supporters praise his courage: “I have always drawn strength from Allen. His courage to change his life is something I wish I had.” Critics argue the opposite: “If you change your appearance to get back at those who mocked you, it is not revenge, it is giving in to their values.” SCMP quoted another user as saying: “Cosmetic surgery carries many health risks. True confidence comes from wisdom, kindness and knowledge, not superficial changes.”
