Jaaved Jaaferi’s sea-facing home in Bandra is more than just a residence—it’s a living memory, layered with nostalgia, warmth, and timeless design. Sprawled across 7,000 square feet and overlooking the Arabian Sea, the Mediterranean-inspired haven is a tribute to Jaaved’s long-standing connection with the suburb and a heartfelt nod to his past. “I’ve been a Bandra boy all my life,” he shares, his voice carrying the weight of decades. “This home is a return, both physically and emotionally.”

Designed in collaboration with architect Kush Bhayani of KULx Studio and Polyfloors India, the home balances minimalism with character. “Warm, natural, eclectic,” was Jaaved’s brief—simple words that unfolded into a design ethos rich with texture and personality. From micro-concrete textured walls by FlexStone to rustic wooden furniture and sleek stone surfaces, the interiors blend Mediterranean grace with modern sensibility. “Every corner has been curated with the family’s input,” Kush reveals, reflecting a design deeply anchored in personal narrative.

The living room, bathed in earth tones, opens into a soothing space that feels grounded and intimate. Sage-toned sofas from Amardeep Design and patterned rugs from UnderStorey lend softness and soul. Jaaved’s son, actor Meezaan, remarks, “One thing we’ve all agreed on are the textured walls,” while daughter Alaviaa, a social media personality, appreciates the abundance of natural light—perfect for content creation.

The heart of the home lies not just in its visuals but in its functionality. A long-desired dining table, a sleek onyx slab supported by raw wooden logs, now brings the family together. “It’s taken away the habit of eating alone in our rooms,” Meezaan says. Above it, sculptural pendant lamps by Name Place Animal Thing serve as artful conversation pieces.

Jaaved’s active involvement throughout the build was key. From sourcing materials to being present on site, he shaped the home as much as it shaped him. A cosy reading nook with shelves lined by travel artefacts and DVDs reflects his legacy and love for cinema, while Alaviaa’s earthy yet vibrant room adds a splash of individuality with a maroon chair from Bombay Design Lab and a quirky mirror from Chic Casa.

The terrace, expansive and breezy, is where two generations gather. Here, laughter echoes, stories are exchanged, and Jaaved, once the exuberant host of Boogie Woogie, finds peace in simplicity. For him, this Bandra home is more than walls and décor—it is memory, family, and a full-circle return to where it all began.
