Bollywood veteran actor and director Anupam Kher recently visited Lalbaugcha Raja in Mumbai during Ganesh Chaturthi festivities to offer his prayers and seek blessings.
The actor took to his Instagram and shared a series of photos and videos from his visit. In the caption, the veteran actor shared his experience, revealing that he went for darshan without any VIP privilege.
Anupam Kher penned in the caption, “Aaj Lalbaug ke Raja ke darshan ka saubhagya prapt hua. Bina kisi VIP darshan ke intazam ke gaya tha, toh kuch aur accha laga (Today, I had the privilege of visiting Lalbaugcha Raja. I went without any VIP arrangements, which made it feel even more special).”
He penned, “Woh baat alag hai, bhakton ka pyaar aur organisers ki daya bhavna bani rahi. Lakhon ki taadaad mein log aate hain, lekin kamaal ka anushasan aur vyavastha dekh kar garv hota hai (What stood out was the love of the devotees and the kindness of the organisers. Despite lakhs of people attending, the discipline and management were truly commendable).”
The veteran actor concluded his caption by writing, “Bhaktjanon ki Ganpati ke prati bhavnaayein atoot hain. Ganpati Bappa Morya (The devotees’ faith in Ganpati remains unwavering).”
However, several fans criticised in the comment section and claimed that he didn’t offer the prayers without the VIP privilege.
One person wrote, “Sorry to burst the bubble Sir but you wouldn’t have felt the same way if you were in the normal line …!! But either way Ganpati Bappa Morya…!!”
Another added, “Happy you got to visit Bappa. But just to share, many of us stood from 12:30 am and only got darshan around 9:30 pm almost 21 hours of waiting. For us common devotees it wasn’t easy we were even held back at times. So when you say ‘no VIP visit,’ it doesn’t feel accurate. The love for Ganpati is equal for everyone, but the treatment isn’t.”
A third person suggested, “Sir, many of us ordinary citizens have gradually stopped visiting Lalbaugcha Raja because of the difficulties caused by the constant influx of celebrities. Unfortunately, they are often given preferential treatment, while the rest of us struggle to get even a glimpse of Bappa. I felt compelled to write to you today because you have always stood for what is fair and right. May Bappa’s blessings always remain with you.”
Another follower said, “The very fact you are being clicked and posing peacefully without any other people around you shows that you were given prefential VIP treatment. So please stop the crap.If celebrities have real devotion then should stand in line or go to their nearby pandals instead of coming to Lalbaug.”
Several celebrities, including Nushrratt Bharuccha, Janhvi Kapoor, and Sidharth Malhotra, among others, have visited Lalbaugcha Raja during Ganesh Chaturthi this year.
On the work front, Anupam Kher has recently directed Tanvi: The Great, which received praise from the critics and the audience alike. The veteran actor is now gearing up for his upcoming film The Bengal Files. He will portray the role of Mahatma Gandhi in the upcoming film, slated to release in the theatres on September 5.
