Punjab is facing one of its worst flood disasters in decades, as relentless rains have caused the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers—and several smaller streams—to overflow. Since 1 August, twelve districts have been severely affected, with 29 lives lost and over 2.56 lakh people impacted.

Many villages have been submerged in water, homes swept away, and livelihoods were destroyed. But in between the devastation, a wave of solidarity has emerged as Punjabi celebrities stepped up and decide to save the city

Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has also similar taken action it. He has adopted ten villages across Gurdaspur and Amritsar.

He has worked closely with NGOs and local authorities, his team is focusing on immediate relief and has stated to provide food, clean water, and medical aid to those stranded or displaced. His team shared on Instagram, “Together, we can rebuild.”

Ammy Virk, deeply moved by the scenes of loss and despair, announced that he and his team are adopting 200 flood-affected families. In a heartfelt message on X, he wrote, “Seeing our people without a roof over their heads has left me devastated. In our small effort to bring comfort and stability, we are adopting 200 houses to support those who have lost everything. This is not just about shelter, it’s about giving hope, dignity, and strength to start again.”
