Actress Angelina Jolie has officially dropped her lawsuit against the Department of Justice and the FBI related to the 2016 plane incident involving her ex-husband, Brad Pitt. This decision follows her petition for additional details about the agency's investigation into alleged assaults involving Angelina and Brad Pitt during a 2016 transatlantic flight.

According to documents obtained by Fox News Digital, the 49-year-old actress filed to dismiss the lawsuit with prejudice on September 25, stating that each party would bear its own fees and costs. A judge approved the order the next day.

Jolie initiated legal proceedings against the FBI in April 2022, almost six years after the agency started probing a rumored dispute that unfolded during a private flight from France to Los Angeles in 2016, involving Pitt, Jolie, and their children.

According to allegations, Pitt became physically abusive during a 2016 altercation, "choking one child, striking another, and grabbing Jolie by the head and shaking her." Additionally, he is accused of pouring alcoholic beverages on Jolie and their six children.

Jolie filed the lawsuit under the name "Jane Doe," using the Freedom of Information Act to request details about the investigation to help "protect the children in the family law system." Jolie alleged that the DOJ and FBI are withholding information that could prove harmful to her children. She claimed that this denial is hindering her efforts to get necessary care and medical attention for her children and is further damaging her children in the family law system.

Despite the gravity of the allegations, federal authorities chose not to file any charges against Pitt, who has consistently denied the claims. Following the plane incident, Jolie filed for divorce on September 19, 2016, listing the day after the incident as their date of separation. Although the couple was declared legally single in 2019, they have remained embroiled in lengthy legal battles over their shared ownership of Chateau Miraval, a vineyard and winery in France.
