Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal has said that he wants to work with business and product leaders who extensively use AI (artificial intelligence) for their functioning. His announcement on X is going viral not only for the opportunity but also for the way he worded it.
"I am looking to work with business and product leaders who have already started using AI as their second brain. If you are the one, please write to me at d@zomato.com," Goyal wrote. "PLEASE include the phrase 'I have a second brain' in the subject line."
The announcement received mixed responses on X with most looking forward to the opportunity while some appeared sceptical, one user called it a gimmick while another questioned if Zomato has finally hired its chief of staff.
On November 20, 2024, Goyal had announced that he was looking for a chief of staff to help him run the company, adding that role wasn't a conventional one. For starters, the employee would have to pay Zomato Rs 20 lakh in the first year and would be paid more than Rs 50 lakh in their second year.
"I am looking for a chief of staff for myself," Goyal wrote on X. "However, this role is not a conventional role with the usual perks that such jobs come with. In fact, we are making this job unattractive for most people. There is no salary for this role for the first year. You will have to, in fact, pay Rs 20 lakh for this opportunity. 100% of this 'fee' will be paid in the form of a donation directly to Feeding India."
Also, to demonstrate that the company is not trying to save money, Zomato would contribute Rs 50 lakh (equivalent to a chief of staff salary) to a charity of the employee's choice.
"Second year onwards, we will start paying you the usual salary (definitely more than Rs 50 lakh, but something we will only talk about at the start of the year 2," Goyal added.
The next day, on November 21, the Zomato CEO shared that they had received more than 1,000 applications but there has been no further updates.
