Last year, 4,940 people searched for "girlfriend" and 40 users looked for "dulhan" on Zomato, the quick commerce platform announced on Wednesday in its annual report on customer insights.
Other interesting discoveries include that Delhi-NCR beat Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan combined in the number of orders placed in 2024. The former recorded 12.4 crore orders while the states recorded about 10 crore orders.
Zomato also revealed that Bengaluru placed 30 lakh more orders than Mumbai but the Maximum City tipped about Rs 3 crore more. Moreover, the platform recorded the maximum number of orders on May 12 at 34.8 lakh and the least on January 29 (16.8 lakh).
Quick commerce, food delivery firms receive record order volumes
The New Year’s Eve ushered in record demand for quick commerce firms, food delivery platforms, and other consumer internet companies. Executives from companies such as Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and Zepto took to X to share notable consumer trends and never-seen-before order volumes.
“We have already crossed the total number of orders we did on NYE 2023. Happened around 5 pm today!” Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa said in a post on X on December 31, 2024.
According to Dhindsa, the company recorded its highest ever orders in a day, highest orders per minute (OPM) and per hour (OPH), as well as highest total tips given to delivery partners in a day.
