The excitement for SS Rajamouli's next big movie, Varanasi, reached a fever pitch when he showed off the long-awaited teaser at a big event in Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City. An estimated 50,000 fans came to the launch, but only those with special passport-style passes were allowed in. These passes quickly became valuable collectibles.

Rajamouli Gives a First Look at a Universe-Spanning Film

SS Rajamouli posted the first trailer, called Varanasi, on X (formerly Twitter) with the words "Here you go..." VARANASI to the WORLD... The trailer starts in Varanasi in 512 CE and then jumps ahead to 2027 CE, when an asteroid called Shambhavi threatens Earth.

The story, which is very interesting to look at, goes to Antarctica, Africa, and even back to 72000 BCE, giving a short but powerful look at Hanuman. The trip ends at Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi, where fans get their first look at Mahesh Babu's character, Rudra. He comes in with a bang, riding a white bull and holding a huge trishul.

This brief look shows that the movie will not only go across continents, but also across many timelines.

Globetrotter is shaping up to be one of the biggest global projects in Indian cinema. It stars Priyanka Chopra, Mahesh Babu, and Prithviraj Sukumaran, who are all well-known around the world.

The whole lead cast, along with Rajamouli and Oscar-winning composer MM Keeravani, were at the launch event. Shruti Haasan, who sang one of the film's Telugu songs, gave a high-energy live performance that lit up the arena.

People who couldn't be there in person could watch the event live on Jio Hotstar and Variety's YouTube channel at the same time. This gave people all over the world a sneak peek at Rajamouli's visionary storytelling.

Globetrotter looks like it will take Indian cinema to new heights, both literally and in terms of storytelling, with its mix of mythology, science, geography, and time travel.
