Rajinikanth celebrates his 75th birthday

Rajinikanth's climb to fame in the Indian film industry, which is notorious for its glamour, family ties, and restrictions, is still one of the most astounding stories. The story of the legendary actor, who has been in movies for 50 years, shows how being true, changing yourself, and having an unequalled charm. On his 75th birthday, a look at the actor's journey, which can create something that lasts over generations, languages, and borders.

From Bus Driver to Celebrity

People in India now know what Rajinikanth's life was like when he was young. Before he became an actor, he worked as a bus driver in Bengaluru. This was totally different from the glamour of the movies. Rajinikanth broke with tradition from the start because he didn't come from a film family and didn't have the "hero looks" that Tamil cinema liked in the 1970s.

A filmmaker named K. Balachander spotted him at the Madras Film Institute and said he was not a star in the making but a spark, or attitude. With his first movie, Apoorva Raagangal (1975), Rajinikanth showed that he didn't follow the rules. He didn't start out as a romantic hero. Instead, he portrayed a terrible character, which was unusual for huge stars at the time and even more dangerous for new ones.

Changing What It Means to Be a Hero

Rajinikanth contributed something utterly new to onscreen heroes: swagger. Before him, onscreen heroes were supposed to be courteous gentlemen or charming romantics. His cigarette flips, punch quips, and stylistic mannerisms weren't intentional; they were just who he was. People liked him not because he looked like a celebrity, but because he acted like one.

His ascension indicated that being a hero was no longer about having ideal looks or being a "manly" man; it was about being there.

The Star of the People

Another prejudice Rajinikanth smashed was the belief that stars had to act like they were untouchable. In actual life, he was the opposite of the showy figure he played on screen: he was simple, spiritual, and down-to-earth. A lot of people said he was really humble. Fans were startled to witness a megastar go without protection, say hi to locals, or go to temples without shoes.

In a world where everyone wants to be famous, Rajinikanth showed that you don't have to be better than everyone else to be successful. People liked him even more because he was easy to get in touch with.

Like no other, breaking down language barriers

Rajinikanth was already well-known all over India before pan-Indian movies became popular. His movies were successful in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, and even Japan. Muthu's success in Japan in the 1990s was more than a surprise. It proved that Rajinikanth was well-known all over the world.

He smashed another stereotype: that stars from one area couldn't become popular all around the world.

Five generations of living and starting over

There aren't many Indian actors who have been at the top for more than twenty years. It has been five years since Rajinikanth took over.

He always came back stronger with a Baasha, Padayappa, Sivaji, Enthiran, Kabali, or Jailer when naysayers warned he would fail. His lengthy life goes against all we know about how stars live.

A Star That Is More Than Just a Box Office Hit

Not only did Rajinikanth smash stereotypes in cinema, but he also accomplished so in real life.

Rajinikanth is not just the biggest celebrity in Tamil film today, but he is also one of India's most influential cultural personalities. For 50 years, he has been doing this. His path is more than just a success story; it is the most inspiring thing ever.

For millions of people, Rajinikanth is more than just a star. He is a symbol of hope, hard work, and the belief that no ambition is too large.

And as he moves on to the next part of his storied career, one thing is for sure: There will never be a Rajinikanth again.
