OnePlus 7 series scheduled to launch today: Here's why it's already better than 6T

OnePlus is set to debut its flagship handsets later today, and there’s a lot to look forward too. With several details of the phone leaked or officially confirmed, it’s safe to say that there’s enough in OnePlus’ latest flagship to set it apart from last year’s OnePlus 6 and 6T.

So, let’s look at every improvement coming to the OnePlus’ latest flagship:

Over-the-top performance

Straight off the bat, the Snapdragon 855 chipset offers significant performance gains over last generation’s Snapdragon 845 SoC. The new chipset built on the 7nm FinFET process, which provides more power and greater power efficiency in a smaller package.

Improved camera system

While the OnePlus 6T offered a smooth experience, camera performance was found lacking as compared to flagship handsets from Samsung, Google, and Apple. But the next-generation of OnePlus handsets will feature an improved triple rear camera setup as well as a possible 32-megapixel front camera.

Excellence in display technology

Display technology is perhaps the most endorsed feature on the upcoming OnePlus handsets. According to the company, both the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro are set to feature groundbreaking display technology; particularly the Pro edition, which has earned an A+ Display Rating courtesy of DisplayMate.

The upcoming OnePlus 7 Pro is all set to feature a near-bezel-less screen with no notch in sight. The display on the handset also gets HDR 10+ certifications and features a 90Hz refresh rate. Whether or not we see all the new changes trickle down into the OnePlus 7 is set to be confirmed.

High-speed storage

UFS 3.0 flash storage is the last new confirmed change coming to the OnePlus handsets. Quality of storage is just as important as quantity if not more so, as it plays a pivotal role in performance. And, UFS 3.0 is the highest standard in smartphone storage quality. To put that into perspective, you’re looking at almost double data bandwidth with lower power consumption.

The OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro will launch later today in India with Reliance Jio offering an instant cashback worth Rs 5,400 on the first recharge of Rs 299. Additionally, partner benefits worth Rs 3,900 will also be available for customers availing the new offer. The Jio “Beyond Speed Offer” will be available for both existing and new Jio subscribers.
