HBL Engineering has bagged five contracts related to provision of Kavach systems, with a total value of Rs 762.56 crore, encompassing 413 stations, and covering 3,900 km of land. Each of the contracts are scheduled to be completed in 18 months.

The budget has also earmarked Rs 19,592 crore for the ambitious Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project, said Naresh Lalwani, general manager of the Central Railway.
There was a technical problem in the S-3 Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)-Karjat local between Ambarnath and Badlapur (in Thane district) on the down line, the CR said in a tweet.
The seven identified locations in Mumbai include Kurla Lokmanya Tilak Teminus, Kalyan, Lonavala, Neral, Igatpuri, Dadar and Matheran. Outside Mumbai, it is opening at four stations, including Akudi, Chinchwad, Miraj and Baramati, Central Railway chief public relations officer Shivaji Sutar told Mid-Day.
The platform ticket price is proposed to be increased as a temporary measure at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar station and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai, as well as neighbouring Thane, Kalyan and Panvel stations for 15 days with effect from Monday, an official said.

Mumbai local trains had last plied for the general populace on March 21, 2020, two days before a nationwide lockdown came into effect to curb the transmission of COVID-19.
This is the first time that the Central Railway (CR) is introducing AC locals on its main line, where services are operated from the CSMT to Kasara and Khopoli.
Currently, only employees of the state and Central governments, nationalised and private banks, PSUs, pharma companies are allowed to travel on special services.
Two trains will run between Pune-Ajni, while a train each will be operated between Mumbai-Kolhapur, Mumbai-Latur, Pune-Nagpur, Pune-Amravati, Kolhapur-Gondia and Mumbai-Nanded.
The CSMT-Nagpur will be Duronto special train, while others will be superfast specials, the CR added.
Four of the new special trains will run on the main line, including two ladies specials between CSMT-Kalyan stations, while four services would run on Thane-Vashi Trans- harbour line.

The Central Railway had written to the state government seeking its views on running special trains to the Konkan region through Central, Western and Konkan railways, the official said.
As per the release, four weekly special trains each will be operated on Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Patna, LTT- Varanasi, LTT-Mau and Pune-Danapur route, whereas 10 trains will be operated between Pune and Balharshah stations.
The signal disruption took place around 7:15pm on the down slow line (moving from CST towards the suburbs) between Kalwa and Mumbra stations, said a CR official.
The line along the Khandala Ghat had suffered severe damage due to heavy rains last year, causing some trains to be diverted and services temporarily cancelled.
The first such EMU, railway terminology for suburban trains, was run as a 4-coach configuration on February 3, 1925 between CSMT (then Victoria Terminus) to Kurla.
Due to the block, the Bhusawal-CSMT passenger train will remain cancelled on January 25, while the CSMT-Bhusawal passenger, Sainagar Shirdi-CSMT passenger and CSMT-Sainagar Shirdi passenger trains will remain cancelled on January 26.
The Panvel-Pune-Panvel and Daund-Sainagar Shirdi-Daund trains will be cancelled during this period while CSMT- Pandharpur and CSMT-Bijapur trains will remain cancelled on specific dates till the end of the month, CR said.
In a release, CR said it had earned Rs 12.20 crore from ticketless travellers in December, 2019 as against Rs 10.40 crore during the same month in 2018, an increase of 17.30 per cent.
The AC local, which is currently undergoing various safety trials, will take another 8-9 days to operate in public service, the official said.
As much as 11.86 per cent of the tickets sold during the day were booked through the app, the CR said in a release here.
