Credit card interest rates are the highest among all kinds of borrowings, sometimes going as high as 3.8% p.m., which is why it is not advised to pay just the minimum amount due or miss payments on your card bill. A credit card’s interest rate might not be relevant to you if you make full payment every month as you will not be charged any interest. However, under certain circumstances, you might have to carry a balance, which will incur heavy interest charges on the unpaid amount. However, there are credit cards, typically super-premium ones, that charge a comparatively lower interest rate and make credit card debts less of a burden.

Have a disciplined approach to your credit behaviour. Once you get a credit card, it is critical that you use it smartly and responsibly. Since credit cards offer a significant interest-free period, there may be a tendency to overspend while travelling in India or overseas. If you spend more than you can repay and cannot pay your credit card bill on time, you will incur interest charges along with late payment fees.
