Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a last-minute push to sway Jharkhand's tribal population, which represents 26 percent of the state’s 2.6 crore voters. Addressing a rally in Saraikela as part of the BJP’s campaign on Monday, Shah took a strong stance on infiltration, land rights and corruption.
Speaking in Saraikela—a stronghold of former Chief Minister Champai Soren, now with the BJP — Shah raised concerns about infiltrators marrying local women to gain control of their land. “If you bring the BJP to power, we will put an end to infiltration,” Shah declared, promising a committee to identify and remove infiltrators while reclaiming any land they’ve seized.
"Infiltrators are grabbing land by marrying our daughters. We will bring a law to prevent transfer of land to infiltrators if they marry tribal women," he said.
Shah also said that the BJP will form a committee to identify infiltrators to drive them out and reclaim land grabbed by them.
Shah also assured voters that under a BJP-led government, Jharkhand's youth would have more opportunities locally, reducing the need for them to seek jobs in other states. On the issue of corruption, he vowed that corrupt leaders within the current JMM-led coalition would be held accountable and sent to jail.
Shah also hit out at the JMM over the way Champai Soren was humiliated by the JMM and thrown out from the post of the chief minister.
Following his address in Saraikela, Shah was set to visit Simdega and Tamar constituencies as part of his campaign tour.
