Amit Shah on Delhi blast: Home Minister visits site, says ‘all possibilities being explored'

Red Fort Blast: Security agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guard (NSG), are now on-site, examining forensic evidence as authorities work to determine the cause and nature of the explosion.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that multiple investigation agencies have been deployed after a powerful blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station left several people injured and caused damage to vehicles in the vicinity.

“This evening, around 7 pm, a blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the Red Fort in Delhi. The blast injured some pedestrians and damaged some vehicles. Preliminary reports indicate that some people have lost their lives,” Shah said in an official statement.

He added that security teams reached the site within minutes of the incident. “Within 10 minutes of receiving the information of the blast, teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Delhi Special Branch arrived at the spot. The NSG and NIA teams, along with the FSL, have now begun a thorough investigation. Orders have been given to examine all nearby CCTV cameras,” he said.

 


The Home Minister further confirmed that senior officials were already coordinating at the site. “I have also spoken to the Delhi CP and the Special Branch in-charge. The Delhi CP and the Special Branch in-charge are present at the spot,” he said.

Emphasising the seriousness of the probe, Amit Shah assured that no line of investigation would be ruled out. “We are exploring all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation, taking all possibilities into account. All options will be investigated immediately and we will present the results to the public,” he said, adding, “I will be heading to the spot shortly and will also visit the hospital immediately.”
