Markets edged higher and gained nearly half a percent, resuming their upward trajectory after a brief consolidation phase. Following a mildly positive start, the Nifty built on early momentum, supported by sustained strength in select heavyweights, particularly from the banking space. However, a minor pullback in the final hour trimmed part of the gains, and the index eventually settled at 25,286. Sectoral performance was mixed—realty, pharma, and banking led the advance, while metal and IT ended on a subdued note. The broader indices moved largely in tandem, adding around half a percent each, reflecting healthy market participation.
The up move was supported by a blend of domestic and global factors. Investor sentiment received a boost from TCS’s AI infrastructure expansion and the continued strength in banking majors, which offset weak cues from Asian markets and overnight declines on Wall Street. Institutional activity also remained constructive, with foreign investors being net buyers for yet another session, signaling stability in flows.
Technically, the Nifty is once again approaching its trendline resistance around 25,450, with immediate support now placed near 25,000. A decisive breakout above this hurdle could further reinforce the recovery and open the path toward the June highs near 25,669. We expect rotational buying across key sectors to continue providing trading opportunities; however, traders should emphasize prudent risk management given the likely volatility during the ongoing earnings season.
Sudeep Shah, Head - Technical Research and Derivatives at SBI Securities
Indian equity benchmark indices ended the week on a powerful note as they registered decisive breakouts, reinforcing bullish momentum across key sectors. The sustained buying interest and follow-through action highlight those bulls are firmly in control as indices head into the new week with renewed strength.
On the sectoral front, Nifty Realty and PSU Banks were the top two sectoral gainers, both ending up with gains of around 1.70%. On the other hand, Nifty Metal & IT were the only sectors which closed the day in red. On the stock front, Cipla & SBI ended up as the top gainers, while Tata Steel and TCS emerged as the top two losers.
Midcap & Smallcap Index, both moved above its prior three-day consolidation range and closed decisively higher. The Midcap 100 Index closed with a gain of 0.46% while Smallcap 100 Index closed 0.74% higher. The market breadth improved with advance-decline ratio tilting in the favour of the bulls as a total of 311 stocks out of the Nifty 500 closed in the green.
Nifty View
Nifty bounced sharply from the low of 24,588 in the first three trading days of October but faced stiff resistance around the 25200-25220 zone for a couple of sessions. In the couple of sessions, where the Nifty took a brief pause, the zone of 25000-25020 acted as a strong support, preventing any further decline. Eventually, buyers took control, pushing the index decisively above the key resistance zone and closed with a sizeable bullish candle at 25309, up 0.51%.
The index is now just 0.64% below its previous swing high of 25449, made on 18th September, highlighting the potential for further upside. On the weekly chart, Nifty closed above the 20-week EMA and above the previous week’s high of 24905, reflecting underlying strength.
Technical indicators are also supportive. RSI, after turning flat, has resumed its upward trajectory and closed above 60, indicating bullish momentum with room for further gains. MACD remains above the signal line and zero line with green histogram bars, suggesting sustained buying pressure and continuation of the uptrend in the near term.
Looking at key levels, the 25,400–25,450 zone will act as an immediate resistance for the Index. If the index manages to give a follow through move above the level of 25,450, the pullback can continue further till 25,600 level. While, on the downside, the zone of 25,200-25,150 will act as a crucial support for the Index.
Bank Nifty View
Bank Nifty gave a strong breakout above the previous two days’ resistance zone of 56280-56300 and closed higher with a sizeable bullish candle on the daily chart. With Friday’s close, the index also broke the downward sloping trendline on the weekly chart, indicating a potential shift from a brief pause to a bullish continuation phase.
Earlier this week, Bank Nifty negated the lower high-lower low structure on the daily chart, signalling potential shift in the broader trend from bearish to bullish. Following this structure change, the prior swing high of 55830-55850 acted as a strong support, helping the index maintain its momentum.
Both PSU and private banks contributed to the rally. PSU banks, which had already been outperforming, closed the week up 1.58%, while private banks, previously underperforming, gained 2.37%. With private banks now joining the rally, Bank Nifty has gained renewed strength, supporting broader market sentiment.
Technical indicators remain bullish. RSI nearing the 70 mark and in rising mode shows healthy momentum and the price closing above the upper Bollinger Band suggests strong buying pressure and potential continuation of the uptrend in the near term.
Looking at key levels, the 56,900–57,000 zone will act as an immediate resistance for the Index. If the index manages to give a follow through move above the level of 57,000, the pullback can continue further till 57,600 level. While, on the downside, the zone of 56,300-56,200 will act as a crucial support for the Index.

Today, the Indian stock market closed on a positive note, with the Sensex rising by 329 points or 0.40% to close at 82,500 and the Nifty 50 gaining 104 points or 0.41% to settle at 25,285. The market's upbeat close was driven primarily by easing geopolitical tensions following the Gaza peace accord, which relieved risk concerns globally.
Additionally, renewed optimism about a forthcoming US-India trade deal further buoyed investor sentiment. Strong buying interest from foreign institutional investors over the past few days supported the gains, alongside robust demand in sectors such as realty, banking, pharma, FMCG, and consumer durables. However, metal stocks declined amid supply concerns. The LG Electronics IPO continued to attract significant investor attention, registering a record 54 times subscription, reflecting positive market sentiment and retail participation.
Sector rotation was visible with positive traction in banking, real estate, and consumer sectors, indicating expectations of sustained economic recovery. Meanwhile, cautiousness persisted in metals and IT owing to supply constraints and upcoming earnings. The strong IPO pipeline continues to act as a catalyst, demonstrating increasing investor appetite.
Looking ahead, the Indian market is expected to maintain its positive momentum supported by easing global tensions and the anticipation of favorable trade agreements. Investors will keep a close watch on upcoming corporate earnings, especially in IT and financial sectors, to confirm growth trends. The festive season and IPO liquidity inflows are likely to sustain buying interest. Nevertheless, vigilance is warranted against potential volatility from global macroeconomic developments and sector specific challenges.

The Rupee shrugged off from the past week's consolidation and logged healthy gains against the dollar, bolstered by foreign inflows into domestic equities a retreat in crude oil, and a weaker dollar post-geopolitical easing provided a strong tailwind.
For the spot USDINR pair, we see the immediate technical support at 88.50, with strong resistance at 88.85 in the near term.
Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments
Indian equities closed higher, led by strong gains in banking and pharmaceutical stocks. Investor sentiment improved after the government invited private sector professionals to lead State Bank of India. This marks a broader policy shift towards allowing private participation in public sector enterprises, aimed at enhancing efficiency and governance.
Pharma stocks rallied as the US revived the Biosecure Act, aiming to cut biotech ties with flagged foreign firms, especially from China, providing a strong boost to Indian CDMOs. With the earnings season underway, investors are closely watching quarterly results for cues on market direction.

The market continued with follow-through upmoves on Friday and the Nifty closed the day higher by 103 points amidst range movement. After opening with a positive note, the market continued to surge higher in the early part of the session. It later shifted into a range bound action for rest of the session and closed near the highs.
A long bull candle was formed on the daily chart, which indicates an uptrend continuation pattern with bullish formation like higher tops and bottoms. Nifty on the weekly chart formed a long bull candle that has almost engulfed the upper area of long bear candle of September end. We also observe bullish higher highs and lows formations as per weekly timeframe chart.
The underlying trend of the market remains positive. Nifty is expected to advance towards the important resistance of around 25400-25450 levels (previous swing high of 18th Sept and the down sloping trend line) by next week. Immediate support is placed at 25150.

The Nifty remained strong on Friday as it broke out of the recent consolidation range. The trend continues to stay positive as it is sustaining above critical moving average.
The setup looks favorable for a further rise in the short term. Any dip would provide a good opportunity to enter long trades.
On the higher end, the Nifty may move towards 25,500–25,550, while on the lower end, support is placed at 25,150. A fall below 25,150 could weaken the trend slightly.
