In a remarkable showcase of Indian luxury and cultural heritage, Nita Ambani, chairperson of Reliance Foundation, epitomised elegance and power through her meticulously chosen outfits at the inauguration of India House at the Paris 2024 Olympics. This debut initiative, conceptualised by the Reliance Foundation, in partnership with the Indian Olympic Association, not only celebrated India’s vibrant textiles and handicrafts but also highlighted Mrs Ambani’s distinctive sartorial elegance.

Her fashion choices were more than mere style statements; they were a form of cultural diplomacy. By wearing outfits that showcased Indian craftsmanship and modern elegance, she used fashion as a medium to promote India’s rich cultural heritage.

Swadesh: A tribute to Indian craftsmanship

At the heart of India House is the Swadesh pavilion, an initiative by Nita Ambani’s Reliance Foundation. Swadesh brings to Paris a rich display of India’s textile and handicraft heritage, featuring painted plates, intricately woven rugs, tapestries, metalwork figurines, and Jaipuri block-printed fabrics and bags. This pavilion is homage to India’s artisans and a testament to the country's deep-rooted cultural history.

For the opening ceremony, Nita Ambani graced the inauguration in a bespoke lotus pink sari designed by Manish Malhotra in collaboration with the artisans of Swadesh. This exquisite sari, adorned with intricate Sozni and Kalamkari hand embroidery, stood out as a masterpiece. The delicate embroidery, rooted in Indian tradition, complemented the elegance and poise of Nita Ambani, making a profound statement about the richness of Indian heritage. The lotus pink hue along with classic string of pearls was a fitting choice for the historic occasion, embodying both grace and sophistication.

Formal elegance:

For the opening ceremony, Mrs Ambani opted for a look that seamlessly blended authority and style. She wore a tweed jacket paired with formal black pants, presenting a powerful yet elegant image. Her neatly styled hair and sophisticated ensemble conveyed the essence of a modern-day leader, balancing formal elegance with a touch of traditional charm. This outfit not only reinforced her status as a global influencer but also highlighted her ability to merge contemporary fashion with timeless sophistication.

Expressing her thoughts on this initiative on social media, a press statement from Mrs Ambani read, “I am deeply honored to be re-elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee. I would like to thank President Bach and all my colleagues in the IOC for their faith and trust in me. This re-election is not just a personal milestone but also recognition of India's growing influence in the global sporting arena. I share this moment of joy and pride with every Indian and look forward to continuing our efforts to strengthen the Olympic Movement in India and around the world." (SIC)
