Upasana Kamineni calls husband Ram Charan 'a very secure man', says, "Marriage isn’t a bed of roses"

Entrepreneur Upasana Kamineni has been married to Tollywood superstar Ram Charan for around 13 years. She has recently reflected on marriage and the importance of communication in a relationship. She has also revealed that Ram Charan is a “very secure man.”

During a recent interview with social media influencer Masoom Minawala, she was asked about ‘the hack’ to making a high-profile relationship work. She said, “We come in as equals, we understood that quite early in our marriage. He’s a very, very secure man.”

The entrepreneur added, “And only a secure man will support a woman and push her to do more. That’s what he does for me. Being there with me through my ups and downs, and me being there with him, is our secret sauce.”

Upasana then stressed the struggles of marriage and confessed, “Marriage isn’t a bed of roses.” She said, “We have our whole family around us, and our whole family is our support system, whether it’s his side or my side.”

She added, "It’s so important, and we try to do that as much as possible. Date night is at home, with no distractions like the TV or phones.”

Upasana further insisted that she and Charan are ‘slowly trying to institutionalise’ this practice and that they are having date nights more frequently.

She explained, “If we have a problem with each other, we definitely talk about it. Communication is something that we are still building, and will continue to build till we die. These are things in a marriage that are accepted, but you have to work on them every day. You can’t give up. It’s like breathing.”

For the unversed, Ram Charan and Upasana Kamineni are college friends. The couple started dating after the Magadheera in 2009. They got engaged in December 2011, followed by a wedding in June 2012. The couple welcomed their daughter, Klin Kaara, in June 2023.
