Shatrughan Sinha on why Sonakshi Sinha's brothers, Luv and Kush didn't attend her wedding: 'They may not be so mature'

Sonakshi Sinha tied the knot in a fairytale wedding with her longtime boyfriend, Zaheer Iqbal. Their wedding garnered significant attention, with rumors circulating that Sonakshi's family had opposed their union.

The rumors were confirmed when Sonakshi's brothers, Love and Kush, did not attend their sister's wedding. Recently, Sonakshi's father, and actor Shatrughan Sinha, addressed the situation, stating that the brothers may still not be so mature.

In an interview with Retro Lehren, When asked if he supported his daughter’s decision to have an inter-faith marriage, he responded, "Of course, I will support my daughter. I don’t have any reason to not to. It’s their life and their wedding. They have to lead a life. If they are sure about each other, who are we to be against it? As parents and as a father, it was my duty to support her. I have always been with her, and I will continue to be so. We speak so much about women empowerment, how is it wrong for her to choose her partner? Not like she did anything illegal. She was mature."

Although Shatrughan refrained from discussing why Sonakshi’s brothers chose to miss the wedding, he expressed his understanding of their pain.

"I won’t complain. They are only humans. They maybe still not be so mature. I do understand their pain and confusion. There is always cultural reaction. Maybe, if I was their age, I might have had a similar reaction to it. But, here is where your maturity, seniority, and experience comes in place. Hence, my reaction was not as extreme as my sons," he said.

Reflecting on attending the wedding, Shatrughan admitted that he thoroughly enjoyed the wedding celebrations and was filled with joy while meeting all the guests.

Sonakshi and Zaheer were in a relationship for several years before choosing to have a private wedding on the anniversary of the day they fell in love (23.06.2017). Later, they hosted a celebration for their close friends and family.
