The family’s hold was broken in the 2010 elections when Satish Kumar Yadav of the Janata Dal (United) defeated Rabri Devi, marking a significant political shift in the constituency.

He questioned the methodology behind these surveys, highlighting that neither the sample size nor the criteria had been made public. According to him, these polls are designed to create psychological pressure on election officials and the public.

The 2025 elections set multiple records, with voter turnout reaching historic levels.

The second phase recorded a turnout of 68.76%, the highest ever in the state’s history, while the combined turnout for both phases stood at 66.91%, the highest since 1951. The first phase had seen 65.06% of voters cast their ballots. The elections are widely viewed as a contest between the ruling NDA and the opposition Mahagathbandhan.

A few moments ahead of counting, BJP spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill today projected a strong performance for the NDA, asserting that the party anticipates a celebratory mood by noon at its headquarters in Bihar and Delhi.

Speaking to reporters, Shergill said the people of Bihar would deliver a decisive verdict, cautioning the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan against underestimating the electorate. “By 12 noon, there will be a festive mood at the BJP headquarters. The people will teach the Mahagathbandhan a lesson,” he said.

Shergill also took a dig at opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, saying they should not challenge the democratic process. “India’s Constitution allows you to dream, and I wish both leaders the best as opposition figures,” he added. The BJP spokesperson further criticized the RJD, claiming that some of its leaders had threatened to turn Bihar into a “Nepal-like situation.” He stated that the NDA government must remain vigilant to prevent any attempts at unrest or violent tactics by what he described as the “Mahathugbandhan.”

Counting will begin at 8:00 am across all 243 constituencies, with over 4,372 counting tables, 243 Returning Officers, and 18,000 counting agents ensuring full transparency. VVPAT verification will be done for five polling stations per constituency to ensure accuracy.

On the eve of Bihar’s crucial verdict day, RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial face Tejashwi Yadav launched a sharp attack on the ruling NDA, alleging attempts to manipulate the counting process and asserting that the Opposition alliance is on course for a “clear majority” on November 14.
