A temporary watchman at a polytechnic college near Ismailkhanpet in Telangana was removed from duty after students discovered him asleep in the campus kitchen with one of his legs resting inside a vessel of cooked rice that had been prepared for hostel residents, a report in Telangana Today stated. The episode was filmed by students and quickly spread across social media platforms, prompting immediate action from the institution.

The college authorities and students were reportedly shocked when the watchman, identified as Chandrashekar, was found lying beside the pot of rice. According to the report, he had allegedly been intoxicated and was unable to be awakened by other staff members. Meanwhile, the cooked rice had to be discarded due to contamination.

The students who discovered the scene alerted the cooking contractor. Following the viral spread of the video, the district collector took swift action and ordered that the guard be immediately removed from duty.

According to those on campus, the watchman appeared to be heavily intoxicated when he entered the kitchen area and lay down beside the food containers. The video capturing the incident showed the man lying on the counter with his foot inside the rice container, while students expressed disbelief at what they were witnessing.

"The students, who arrived at the mess for lunch, were shocked to see the watchman sleeping with his feet inside the vessel containing the rice. The college authorities and students tried to awaken the watchman, but in vain. Following the incident, the watchman was dismissed," the caption of the post read.
