A short video recorded during a late-night auto rickshaw journey in Bengaluru drew widespread attention online after a woman passenger described an unexpected sense of reassurance during the ride. She explained in the clip that she had booked a Rapido auto shortly after midnight and came across a message displayed behind the driver’s seat that altered how she felt during the journey.
In the video, the passenger said, “It is midnight and I was travelling in a Rapido when I read this, and it actually made me feel safe.” She referred to a printed note fixed to the back of the driver’s seat, written in both English and Kannada. The message stated: “I’m a father brother too. Your safety matters. Sit back comfortably.”
The recording showed the note close-up, with the woman pointing out that such gestures were uncommon but carried significant meaning when travelling alone at night. The text added to the post called it a “Peak Bengaluru moment,” a phrase used by the creator of the clip, the Instagram account Little Bengaluru Stories, which shared the video.
The post prompted a range of reactions from viewers. One user commented, “Real goosebumps while reading.” Another wrote, “I know this city from last 20 years. It is the safest city for everyone.” A third response read, “This is what we want - and exactly what we should do.”
Several others appreciated the driver’s gesture, with one user saying, “These are real Namma Bengaluru auto drivers and they have a huge responsibility.” Another remarked, “Need more people like him.”
The video shortly went viral, with many users highlighting the value of small acts that promote a sense of safety.
