A woman in Bengaluru has accused a Rapido bike taxi rider of harassing her during a trip while she was travelling back to her paying guest residence from Church Street.
In a detailed post shared on social media, she described how the driver allegedly attempted to touch her legs during the journey. “It happened so suddenly that I couldn’t even process it, let alone record it. When he did it again, I told him, ‘Bhaiya, kya kar rahe ho, mat karo,’ but he didn’t stop,” she wrote.
She said she felt too frightened to ask the rider to stop midway as she was new to the area and unfamiliar with her surroundings. “By the time we reached my destination, I was shivering and in tears,” she added.
According to her account, a passer-by noticed her distress once the trip ended and approached to ask what had happened. “A kind man nearby noticed and asked what happened. When I told him, he confronted the captain. The captain apologised and said he wouldn’t do it again — but as he left, he pointed his finger at me in a way that made me feel even more unsafe,” she wrote.
The woman also shared a short video showing the moment the driver placed his hand on her legs as the bike stopped. Along with the footage, she uploaded a screenshot displaying the rider’s profile information and a message from another woman who said she had seen the incident but initially assumed the man was a friend.

She further posted a screenshot of her conversation with a friend, in which she wrote, “This Rapido is not safe. He’s trying to touch me.”
Explaining why she decided to go public, the woman said such behaviour had occurred before but this experience left her feeling particularly vulnerable. “No woman should have to go through something like this — not in a cab, not on a bike, not anywhere,” she said. She urged others to trust their instincts and stay alert while using ride services.
Following her complaint, the Wilson Garden Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) and began an investigation into the matter. Police officials said the incident took place at around 4 pm on Thursday.
The Bengaluru City Police responded to the woman’s post online, asking her to share the exact location details and her contact information to assist the inquiry.
Rapido has not yet issued a public statement on the allegations.
