Rajinikanth praises Suriya's film Retro

Suriya starrer Retro recently hit the theatres and received a decent response at the box office. However, he has received special appreciation from superstar Rajinikanth.

Rajinikanth has recently watched Retro and praised Suriya’s performance. Filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj shared a post appreciating Rajinikanth’s praise.

Karthik took to his X (formerly Twitter) and revealed that Thalaivar aka Rajinikanth praised the hard work of the entire team behind the film Retro, particularly highlighting Suriya's performance and the thrilling final 40 minutes of the movie.

Karthik shared a poster of Rajinikanth's look from 'Johnny' and wrote, "Johnny praises Paari,” referencing to Suriya's character Paari from Retro.

The tweet continued, “Thalaivar watched #Retro & he Loved it... Exact words of Thalaivar… ‘What an effort by whole team...Suriya performance Super....Last 40 minutes of the film Superb..Laughter touch is Fantastic....God Bless.’”

He concluded the post while expressing his happiness and wrote that he is over the moon. He said, “Am flying now....Love you Thalaivaaa @Suriya_offl @Music_Santhosh @2D_ENTPVTLTD @stonebenchers #Thalaivar #RetroBlockbuster.”

The film features an ensemble cast including Pooja Hegde, Joju George, Jayaram, Prakash Raj and Vidhu in the pivotal roles. Produced by Stone Bench Films and 2D Entertainment, the film is written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj.

The gangster drama is set against the backdrop of love in the 90s. The film follows the life of Paari, discovering his purpose in life.
