Popular television actress Hiba Nawab has confirmed that she is leaving her show Jhanak. The decision comes after news that the show will soon take a leap in the storyline, introducing new characters and a time jump. Hiba shared that she is not comfortable playing the role of a mother to someone close to her own age.
Speaking about her decision, Hiba said, “I won’t be a part of the show after the leap. I am not comfortable playing a mother to someone closer to my age.” She explained that while the team had been talking about the leap for a while, the final decision was confirmed only a few days ago.
After the leap, the story will focus on Jhanak and Aniruddha’s daughter, Arshi, who will be shown as a grown-up. Hiba pointed out that the actress who will play Arshi will likely be around her age, and that made her feel awkward about continuing in the role. “How can I play a mother to someone my age? I am not comfortable,” she said honestly.

During her time on the show, Hiba also had to deal with online trolling. She admitted that the negative comments affected her confidence. “The criticism affected my confidence as a performer. This was the first time I really faced so many negative comments. I used to scroll through social media and just wonder why it’s happening,” she shared.
Hiba will complete her shoot for Jhanak in the first week of June. After that, she plans to take a short break before deciding on her next project. She said she is open to both television and OTT roles but is clear about the kind of work she wants to do. “I’ve been approached for bold scenes, and I’ve had to refuse. I am clear that I don’t want to be a part of something I’m not comfortable with or wear something revealing on screen,” she said.
