Superstar Rajinikanth and a few of his closest friends have taken a hiatus from their acting duties to travel to the Himalayas for a spiritual pilgrimage. Several photos of the veteran actor are now going viral on social media.
The pic showed the actor leading a modest life away from the spotlight, including one in which he is seen eating food from a roadside pattal (leaf plate).
Rajinikanth visited Swami Dayananda Ashram in Rishikesh on Saturday to honour Swami Dayananda. He also participated in the Ganga Aarti and spent time meditating by the Ganga's banks.
According to Amar Ujala, the veteran actor visited Dwarahat on Sunday. A number of his trip photos have appeared. Fans are praising and loving the pictures.
In one image, Rajinikanth is seen eating food from disposable leaf plates (pattal) set out on a stone surface by the side of the road while wearing plain white clothing. With the hilly backdrop, it is possible to see a car parked in the background.
Another image shows him with a priest, paying his respects, and another shows him talking to a group of men, as if at the ashram.
Rajinikanth has recently made a stellar appearance in his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth's 2024 film Lal Salaam. In the same year, he costarred with Amitabh Bachchan and Rana Daggubati in TJ Gnanavel's film Vettaiyan as a trigger-friendly police officer. Reviews for both movies were ambivalent.

He costarred with Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Rachita Ram, Upendra, Aamir Khan, and others in Lokesh Kanagaraj's ensemble film Coolie this year. He is currently filming Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Rajinikanth recently stated that a movie starring Kamal Haasan is in development, but the director has not yet been chosen.
