There’s nothing quite like a proud daughter cheering on her dad — especially when that dad happens to be Rajinikanth.

This week, Soundarya Rajinikanth took a moment on social media to celebrate her father’s latest win, calling him her “Powerhouse Appa” as Coolie continues to surge after its OTT debut.

Since landing on Amazon Prime, the film has been trending in the Top 10 across more than 20 countries, a reminder that Rajinikanth’s pull isn’t just enduring — it’s growing.

Sharing a motion poster on Instagram, she wrote, “One and only (Superstar) my powerhouse appa.” The short clip highlights two distinct shades of the superstar, including the much-discussed de-aged version that had fans talking from the moment it appeared on screen. It’s a neat blend of nostalgia and new-age technology — very Rajini, very now.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie began streaming globally on 11 September, beaming out to over 240 countries and territories. The cast is stacked: Nagarjuna, Soubin, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Rachitha Ram and Pooja Hegde join Rajinikanth, with Anirudh supplying the propulsive score.

Set on the Visakhapatnam docks, the story follows Deva, a former coolie pushed into rebellion after the mysterious death of a close friend. His search for answers drags him through smuggling rings, dark secrets and bruising betrayals, with the chilling image of a concealed electric chair running through the narrative.

Backed by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, the film was mounted on a reported ₹350–400 crore budget and went on to collect Rs 507.75 crore worldwide, according to a trading website.

That haul puts Coolie firmly in hit territory, even if it doesn’t nudge past the towering benchmarks set by Rajinikanth’s own Jailer, Kanagaraj’s Leo or Shankar’s 2.0.

And there’s more on the horizon. Rajinikanth is currently at work on Nelson’s Jailer 2, the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster, and has hinted it may release after June 2026.
