India Women are facing Pakistan Women in their ICC Women’s World Cup clash at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The no-handshake policy that was seen during the men’s Asia Cup matches between India and Pakistan continued in this fixture as well. At the toss, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana refrained from shaking hands before the start of play. Fatima Sana won the toss and elected to field first against India.

Coming to the tournament, India women began their 2025 World Cup campaign with a sensational 59-run win (via DLS) over Sri Lanka in Guwahati. It was an all-round show from the Women in Blue. Deepti Sharma impressed with both bat and ball.

Fifties from Amanjot Kaur and Deepti Sharma powered India to a challenging total of 269 for 8. In reply, Sri Lanka began the chase positively but later failed against India’s pace bowlers.

Before the Pakistan game, old memories India players spending time with the infant daughter of Bismah Maroof, who captained Pakistan during the 2022 T20 World Cup were all over social media. Harmanpreet Kaur even took a selfie with the baby post match.

When current captain Fatima Sana was asked in the pre-match press conference whether such friendly scenes could be expected this time, she responded diplomatically, emphasizing that the team’s focus remains firmly on the main task which is playing good cricket.

Coming the game and head to head - India have dominated Pakistan in ODIs and especially World Cup.
