Former cricketer Madan Lal delivered a harsh judgment against Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), who has been under fire for taking the Asia Cup winners' trophy following India's historic victory over Pakistan in the championship match. The Suryakumar Yadav-led team declined to accept the trophy from Naqvi, who is also Pakistan's interior minister, because of his anti-Indian views.
Madan Lal, a member of India's 1983 World Cup-winning team, in an interview with India Today noted that Naqvi has damaged both his and Pakistan's cricketing traditions.
"All these things should not have happened. When players lift that trophy in front of the fans, or on live TV, that is when it looks good," said Madan Lal.

The 74-year-old also called Naqvi immature for leaving the stadium with the trophy, saying that only someone who is ignorant of the sport would act in such a way.
"Mohsin Naqvi has no knowledge of the sport. How a sport should be played, how one should behave. There were so many people from the Indian team who were standing on the dais afterwards. He should have told someone else to give the trophy to the Indian team. The PCB chief has destroyed his and his country's reputation," he added.
Madan Lal further emphasised how Pakistan army controls all affairs pertaining to the country, including cricket. "Why should Suryakumar Yadav go to the Asian Cricket Council office to collect the trophy? India won, you should have let them celebrate with the trophy on the ground. But of course, he does not have any knowledge, in their country everything is decided by the armed forces," Madan Lal concluded.
During the ACC meeting, Naqvi informed the BCCI executives that he was prepared to present the trophy to the Indian team, provided they take it from him only.
